Or Honored Again on D3hoops.com Region 7 Team, Baney Named Rookie of the Year

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Senior Catherine Or and freshman Payton Baney of the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team were named to the D3hoops.com Region 7 team for their performances during the 2024-25 season. Or is honored by the organization for the fourth time with her first nod on the first team, while Baney followed Or as a D3hoops.com Region 7 Rookie of the Year.

Or helped lead the Tartans to the NCAA Championship Tournament for the first time since 2015-16. She finished the season averaging 18.2 points per game with 7.0 rebounds a game. She also recorded 4.6 assists a game and led the team in all three categories. Or also improved her three-point shooting this season and set the school's single-season record by connecting on 45.8% of her attempts.

Baney, the program's fourth D3hoops.com Region Rookie of the Year, finished as the team's sixth leading scorer with 7.6 points per game. She was second in rebounding with 5.3 boards a game and first in blocks with 1.2 a game. The first-year Tartan averaged 24.9 minutes a game and shot a team-best 58.1% from the floor. Baney scored in double figures 10 times with a season-best 18 points at home against Emory University and was also named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Rookie of the Year.
