Three-Point Records Set in Tartans 66-51 Win Against Brandeis

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Freshman Isha Nambisan (Fremont, Calif. / Mission San Jose) tied the school record for three-pointers made as the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team topped Brandeis University 66-51 on Friday evening in University Athletic Association (UAA) action. The win for the Tartans is the second against Brandeis this year and moves the Tartans to 10-9 overall and 4-6 in UAA play.

The Tartans separated from the Judges in the second quarter with a 21-6 blitz that put the home team up 35-18. Nambisan connected on four three-pointers in the quarter to lead the Tartans for the half with 17 points.

The third quarter saw the Tartans score another 21 points behind four more three-pointers, one by Nambisan and three by sophomore Anika Prasad (Saratoga, Calif. / Saratoga), that pushed their lead to 22 points.

The Tartans led by as many as 25 points in the final frame before Brandeis ended the game on an 11-0 run. Three-pointers were the story of the game and with Nambisan's seventh of the game with 4:20 to play the first-year Tartan tied the individual game record and help set a new team record with 13 made from beyond the arc for the game.

Nambisan finished with 29 points, a season-high for the Tartans, while fellow freshmen Anisha Chintala (Austin, Texas / Westwood) and Catherine Or (Los Angeles, Calif. / Marlborough School), along with Prasad all finished with nine points.

The Tartans dominated on the glass with 46 rebounds to 36 for the Judges. Senior Caitlyn Clendenin (Bethesda, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase) pulled down 15 to match her career-high set against Brandeis in 2020.
