Yu Sets School Record in 100m at Slippery Rock

(SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Slippery Rock Last Chance Meet on Thursday, April 16.

Top Performances

  • Junior Matthew Yu won the 100-meter dash with a career-best and school record time of 10.66 to pass Marvin Bennett's time of 10.70 set in 2019. Freshman Yusuf Shabazz was seventh with a time of 11.05.
  • Yu also won the the 200-meter dash in a career time of 21.88.
  • Sophomore Jonathan Okorie won the 800-meter run with a career-topping time of 1:56.50. Freshman Stefan Langridge was fourth with a time of 1:58.06 and freshman Tanay Parikh was sixth with a career-best time of 1:58.48.
  • Sophomore James Brewer ran the 400-meter hurdles in 59.17, finishing in eighth.
  • Junior Solomon Glavach and junior Christian Duckworth tied for third place in the pole vault with a mark of 4.55 meters. Sophomore Lucas Knappenberger placed sixth with a career mark of 4.55 meters.
  • Senior Morgan Johnson finished sixth in the long jump with a mark of 6.85 meters.
  • Junior Atai Tahasan finished seventh in the triple jump, hitting a mark of 13.10 meters.
  • Senior Casey Potrebic earned a mark of 51.32 meters, placing seventh in the javelin.
