Tartans Record Multiple PRs at Dave Labor Invitational

(SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed in the Dave Labor Invitational on Friday and Saturday among competitors from Division I, II and III.

Running Events:

  • Sophomore Luke Freimanis ran 14.41 in the 110-meter hurdles to break his previous school record he set last week, and place sixth at the meet.
  • Freshman Aryan Hiray finished second in the 400-meter dash in 48.70, a new personal best, and bumping him to fifth on the all-time list. Sophomore Ryan Joyce also broke 50 seconds, running a 49.91 to place him ninth.
  • Freshman Eric de Oliveira finished 11th in the 100-meter dash for a new personal best time of 10.83, which ties him with the third fastest time in Carnegie Mellon history. Sophomore Devin Chang finished 21st with a time of 11.00 while senior Jeremy Ocloo finished 27th in 11.09.
  • De Oliveira is now fourth all time in the 200-meter dash, finishing 12th in 21.74. Not far behind was freshman Nathan Kougher in 21.99 placing 18th.
  • In the 800-meter race, sophomore Jon Okorie ran a 1:58.19 to place ninth.
  • In the 1,500-meter run freshman Tanay Parikh ran 4:02.33, placing him eighth, a new personal record. 
  • The 4x100 meter relay team of de Oliveira, Ocloo, Kougher and Chang placed third running a 42.23, placing them fifth all-time.
  • The 4x400 meter relay of Ocloo, Joyce, Hiray and de Oliveira finished second with a time of 3:19.34.

Field Events:

  • Senior Johnathan Crawshaw finished ninth with a mark of 15.38 meters in the shot put, a new personal best for him.
  • Sophomore Lucas Knappenberger cleared the bar at 4.48 meters in the pole vault.
  • Senior Morgan Johnson finished 19th in the long jump, with a mark of 6.58 meters. Freimanis finished in 21st with a mark of 6.51 meters.
  • In the discus throw, freshmen Carter Klaus and Mohammad Ahmed finished 28th and 29th, respectively, with marks of 39.15 meters and 38.97 meters.
  • Senior Victor Crawshaw finished just in front of his brother Johnathan in the hammer throw. Victor threw 42.97 meters, and Johnathan threw 42.08 meters.

Next up the Tartans will split into three meets, Susquehanna Multi Meet April 9-10th, the Westminster Invite April 10-11th, and the Bucknell Invitational April 11-12th.
