Freimanis Repeats as Mid-Atlantic Region Men's Field Athlete of the Year

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) – Sophomore Luke Freimanis of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team has been honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with outstanding regional recognition. Freimanis was named Mid-Atlantic Region Men's Field Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year.

Freimanis placed 15th in the heptathlon at the 2026 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships with 4,870 points to earn All-America Second Team honors. He qualified for the championship event after recording 5,019 points at the Bison Open in early December, the most points in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

It is the third time in program history a men's track and field athlete received a regional award for the indoor season, as Andrew McGovern garnered the accolade in 2024 followed by Freimanis in 2005 and again this season.
