Tartans Sweep Top Two Spots in 3k at Kent State
(KENT, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Kent State Doug Raymond Invitational on February 6th and 7th.
Top Track Performances
- In the 3000-meter run sophomores Oliver Moss and York Bourgeois went first and second to run new personal bests of 8:36.42 and 8:38.00.
- Freshman Eric de Oliveira won the 400-meter dash with a new personal best of 49.11, the fourth fastest time in school history. Shortly behind was sophomore Ryan Joyce in 10th finishing in a 50.74, an indoor track personal best.
- Sophomore Luke Freimanis finished the 60-meter hurdles in fourth place with a time of 8.31.
- Sophomore Veyd Patil crossed the 800-meter line in 12th with a new personal best of 1:56.65. In his first collegiate race, freshman Franklin Ritz ran a 1:58.72 to place 20th.
Top Field Performances
- Senior Johnathan Crawshaw threw the shot put 15.32 meters to place him 10th.
- Sophomore Lucas Knappenberger placed second in the pole vault after clearing 4.40 meters followed by senior Christian Duckworth who placed third after also clearing 4.40 meters.
- Senior Morgan Johnson took ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.84 meters. In 11th place was junior Atai Tahasan jumping a mark of 13.22 meters.

The Tartans will compete at the David Henry Valentine Invite at Boston University and the Susquehanna Invitational on Friday and Saturday, February 13-14.
