Tartans Compete at Bucknell and Mount Union

(LEWISBURG, Pennsylvania) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed in the Bucknell Bison Challenge and Multi Meet and the Mount Union Jim Wuske Collegiate Invitational on Friday and Saturday, January 30th and 31st.

Top Track Performance at Bucknell

  • In the 200-meter run freshman Eric de Oliveira placed 10th with a time of 22.87, shortly behind him was senior Jeremy Ocloo in 13th with a time of 22.94.
  • De Oliveira later ran 50.30 to get second in the 400-meter dash, Ocloo followed behind with a 50.74 in fourth place, freshman Aryan Hiray ran a 51.67 to place 11th.
  • Senior Gaven Williams ran 1:11.31 to place seventh, followed by junior Phillip Ma placed tenth with a 1:11.89.
  • Junior Matthew Short won the 800-meter dash with a 1:55.35, an indoor personal record. He also won the mile with a 4:16.47. Nico Fasanelli placed fourth with a 4:22.28, a new personal record.
  • In the 3000-meter run Fasanelli placed fourth with a 8:38.21, another personal record. Senior Kenji Tella ran 8:52.83 to place 10th.

Top Field Performances at Bucknell

  • Senior Morgan Johnson was second in the long jump, with a jump of 6.90 meters, freshman Alexander Moser jumped a personal record of 6.58 meters.
  • Moser placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.25 meters. Junior Atai Tahasan jumped 12.87 meters to place eighth.
  • Junior Johnathan Crawshaw threw 14.83 meters in the shot put to place seventh. Freshman Mohammad Ahmed was 10th with a throw of 14.40 meters.
  • Senior Casey Potrebic placed third in the heptathlon which consists of a 60-meter dash which he placed sixth in a time of 7.44, he ran a 9.60 in the 60-meter hurdles to place 8th, he placed sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.70 meters. In the long jump he placed eighth with a mark of 5.81 meters, he placed first in the shot put with a mark of 12.22 meters and set a new facility record in the pole vault with a mark of 4.26 meters.

Top Track Performances at Mount Union

  • In the 3000-meter run freshman Jack Flori won the race with a 8:49.21, a collegiate best. He was followed by junior Christian Brower in second place with a time of 8:53.99, and Nate Massie in fourth with a 8:57.74.
  • Junior Angelo Parrino won the mile with a 4:31.29.
  • Sophomore Devin Chang ran 7.25 in the 60-meter dash to place sixth.
  • Sophomore Jon Okorie ran 1:10.32 to place fifth in the 500-meter dash, shortly behind him was sophomore James Brewer with a 1:12.6 to place seventh
  • Freshman Stefan Langridge won the 1000-meter dash with a 2:29.80, followed by sophomore Veyd Patil with a 2:33.86 in second.
