Porter Repeats as All-American at NCAA Outdoor Championships

(GENEVA, Ohio) – Four Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field athletes started competition at the 2025 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships on Thursday, May 22 at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Senior Casey Potrebic started competition in the decathlon and is in 18th place with 3,086 points after five events. Potrebic was 20th in the 100-meter dash in 11.61 seconds, 19th in the long jump with a mark of 6.04 meters, third in the shot put with a distance of 12.30 meters, 21st in the high jump after clearing 1.64 meters, and 18th in 400-meter dash in 53.99 seconds.

Potrebic will finish the decathlon on Friday with the 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and 1,500-meter run.

Sophomore Matthew Short and graduate student Matthew Denton ran in the 1,500-meter run finishing 17th and 19th, respectively, with times of 3:55.69 and 3:56.81.

Graduate student Matthew Porter closed the evening in the 10,000-meter run, earning All-America Second Team honors by placing 16th in a time of 30:51.01. Tonight's finish marks Porter's second All-America Second Team award in the 10,000-meter run as he placed 15th last year.

Potrebic will start Saturday's events at 10:00 a.m.
