Tartans Compete at West Virginia Stan Romanoski Open

(MORGANTOWN, W.Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team traveled to West Virginia University for the West Virginia Stan Romanoski Open. The Tartans competed in 12 events and won five.

Top Performances on the Track 

  • Senior Aleksei Seletskiy won the 800-meter run with a personal record time of 1:53.27. Senior Matthew Denton was second with a personal record time of 1:54.41. Freshman Jonathan Okorie was eighth with his best time of 1:58.87. 
  • Junior Kenji Tella was first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:33.84.
  • Senior Casey Potrebic was fifth in 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.57. 
  • Senior Sean Dutton and Potrebic both made personal records in the 400 meters. Dutton was second with a time of 50.93 and Potrebic was fourth with a time of 54.14. 
  • Sophomore Matthew Yu placed fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.21. 
  • Sophomore Angelo Parrino won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:36.56. 

Top Performances in the Field

  • Freshman Lucas Knappenberger won the pole vault with a clearance of 4.54 meters, for a career best. Sophomore Solomon Glavach tied Knappenberger, also earning a mark of 4.54 meters. 
  • Sophomore Atai Tahasan was first in the triple jump with a mark of 13.20 meters. 
  • In shot put, sophomore Johnathan Crawhsaw and Potrebic placed fourth and sixth with marks of 13.73 meters and 12.51 meters, respectively. 
  • Potrebic also placed fifth in the discus throw with a personal record of 36.51 meters. 
  • Junior Morgan Johnson and senior Sebastian Sanso both earned marks of 6.98 meters in the long jump, placing second and third, respectively.
