Freimanis Named UAA Track Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – For the second time this season, freshman Luke Freimanis of the Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week. This time he receives the honor for running events following his performance at the Jud Logan Memorial Meet at Kent State University on Saturday.

Freimanis won the 60-meter hurdles with a school record time of 8.10, as he was the lone Division III runner in the event. He also placed fifth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.90 meters.

He currently ranks seventh nationally in the 60-meter hurdles while ranking tops in the UAA in the 60-meter hurdles and tied for second in the high jump.

The Tartans will head to the Spire Midwest Open in Geneva, Ohio on Saturday, January 25.
