Aldrich Repeats as Indoor Mid-Atlantic Regional Coach of the Year

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) - Carnegie Mellon University head men's and women's track and field coach Gary Aldrich was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the Men's Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year for the second straight season.

Aldrich guided the Tartans to a runner-up finish at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship while three athletes captured individual association titles and five others were runners-up. Throughout the indoor season, four school records were set and 21 top-5 all-time Carnegie Mellon performances were recorded.

Aldrich and his staff will be coaching three men at the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend at the at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama. The Tartans will have a combined (men and women) five athletes competing.

This recognition adds to the successful resume of accolades for Aldrich, as he received the same award for the indoor season in 2014, 2016, 2019 and 2022, with outdoor honors coming in 2019, 2021 and 2022. He also is a five-time USTFCCCA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year winner (2008 outdoor men, 2011 outdoor women, 2012 indoor men and women and 2012 outdoor women).
