  • Men’s Track Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards
    July 23, 2019
    The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2019 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list for the 23rd consecutive year. A total of 113 men's teams and 184 women's teams earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better for the 2018-19 academic year.
  • Karee Named CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-America

    Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Matt Karee (Elmira, N.Y./Notre Dame) was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Division III Track & Field/Cross Country Team. The honor is the first for Karee, who is in his first year of eligibility, and the first since 2015 for the men's track and field and cross country programs.
  • Carnegie Mellon Outdoor Track and Field Garners 17 USTFCCCA All-Region Honors

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s and women’s track and field teams had 17 Mideast All-Region honors awarded to its athletes by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2019 outdoor track and field season. Thirteen represent the men while four represent the women with two men receiving multiple honors.
  • Three Men Named CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District

    Three Carnegie Mellon University men’s track and field and cross country athletes have been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as Google Cloud Men’s Cross Country/Track and Field Academic All-District selections. Junior Josh Kalapos (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Mt.Lebanon) and sophomore Matt Karee (Elmira, N.Y./Notre Dame) participate on both teams while sophomore Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) competes on the track and field team following the fall playing football.
  • Mitchell Ends Career Running at NCAA Championships

    Senior Will Mitchell (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday. The three-day event was hosted at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, with the University of Mount Union and Greater Cleveland Sports Commission co-hosting.
  • Miller Competes in Second Event at NCAA Outdoor Championships

    Sophomore Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis. / Kettle Moraine Lutheran) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed in the shot put at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, on Friday.

    Junior Evan Yukevich (Tokyo, Japan / American School in Japan) and sophomore Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis. / Kettle Moraine Lutheran) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the opening day of the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, on Thursday.
  • Aldrich Named Mideast Outdoor Regional Coach of the Year

    Carnegie Mellon University head men’s and women’s track and field coach Gary Aldrich was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the Men’s Outdoor Mideast Coach of the Year.
  • Mills Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

    Carnegie Mellon University senior track and field athlete Isaac Mills (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for excelling academically and athletically while showing leadership and commitment to the community. Twenty-one males and 21 females across all three NCAA divisions were chosen as recipients for the winter sports.
  • Four Tartans to Compete at NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

    Four Carnegie Mellon University men’s and women’s track and field athletes have qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be hosted at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, May 23-25. The University of Mount Union and Greater Cleveland Sports Commission are co-hosts for the event.
  • Miller and Bennett Jr. Garner Year End Men’s Track and Field UAA Honors

    Carnegie Mellon University sophomores Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis. / Kettle Moraine Lutheran) and Marvin Bennett Jr. (Baltimore, Md. / Phillips Exeter Academy) were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) when the 2019 Outdoor Track and Field awards were announced Wednesday. Miller was named Most Outstanding Performer in the field events, while Bennett Jr. was Most Outstanding Performer in the running events. Both played a major contribution in helping lead the Tartans to a second-place finish at the UAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
  • Bennett Jr. Wins 100-Meter and 200-Meter Titles at UAA Championships

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team finished second at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships which concluded Sunday after two days of action at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. The men had three individual wins and a win in the 4x100-meter relay.
  • Tartans Stand in Second After Day One of UAA Championships

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team began action at the 2019 University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Emory University. After seven scored events, the Tartans are second with 75 points, just ten points behind first place Washington University.
  • Carnegie Mellon’s Aldrich Named to the USA Coaching Staff for 2019 NACAC U23 Championships

    Gary Aldrich, head coach of the Carnegie Mellon University track and field teams, has been named to the U.S.A. coaching staff as the Throws Coach for the 2019 NACAC (North American, Central American, and Caribbean Athletic Association) Under 23 Championships this summer. The event will take place in Queretaro, Mexico, from July 5-7. This marks Aldrich's sixth coaching stint on the international stage.
  • Seven Tartans Place First at SRU Open

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Slippery Rock University Open on Thursday. The men turned in seven first place finishes in the unscored event.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Westminster College Invitational on Saturday. Many Tartans placed among the top five against a field of Division II and Division III competitors.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s track and field team competed in the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University on Saturday. The Tartans had many personal-best performances against the DII and DIII competition.

    Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s outdoor track and field team was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Field Athlete of the Month for the month of March.
  • Miller Garners Second Straight UAA Athlete of the Week Honor

    For the second straight week, sophomore Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s outdoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for field events. The honor comes following his performance at the Tartans annual Quad Meet Saturday afternoon.
  • Miller Breaks School Record in Discus Throw, Kalapos Breaks 3,000 Meter School Record

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team hosted its annual Carnegie Mellon Quad on Saturday. The Tartans won the quad with 215 points after turning in 11 first-place finishes. Penn State Behrend placed second with 158 points. The men swept four events and had numerous career-best performances.

  • Tartans Cruise to Win at Annual Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team hosted its annual Mini Invitational on Saturday, March 23. The Tartans won the event after scoring 312 points with John Carroll taking second with 103 points. The Tartans swept top three spots in two events throughout the meet.

    Sophomore Jack Murphy (Ithaca, N.Y. / Trumansburg) and freshman Graham Eversden (Chandler, Ariz. / Chandler) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s outdoor track and field team were named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week. Murphy claimed the field accolade while Eversden received the running honor following their performance at the Washington and Lee Track and Field Carnival over the weekend.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team traveled south to Lexington, Virginia for the Washington and Lee Track and Field Carnival hosted by Washington and Lee University at Foster Stadium on Friday and Saturday. The Tartans turned in four first-place showings and had multiple top-five performances in the first meet of the spring.

    Three Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field athletes competed at the final day of the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday. This year's championships are being held at the Reggie Lewis Center with the University of Massachusetts Boston and the City of Boston serving as hosts.
