Norley and Walters to Compete at NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - Junior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) and freshman Rai Walters (Westlake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team will each compete at the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. The meet will be held March 11-12 at the Charles Benson Bear '39 Recreation and Athletic Center in Grinnell, Iowa, with Grinnell College serving as the official host.

Norley qualified for the meet in the mile run with Walters earning his place in the long jump. Norley's time of 4:14.98 currently seeds him 15th at the meet. The junior posted his career-best time at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships at the end of February when he crossed first to win the league title in the event.

Walters will enter the championships with the fifth best jump in the nation. He won the UAA Championship with a school record leap of 7.17 meters.

Walters will be the first to compete with the preliminaries and finals of the long jump set to start at 12:45 p.m. CT on Friday, March 11 while Norley will hit the track on later in the day. The preliminaries of the mile are set for 1:30 p.m. CT with the finals to take place on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CT.
