Morford Repeats as CSC Academic All-America First Team Selection

(AUSTIN, Texas) – Junior Brayden Morford of the Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving athletes has been named to the Academic All-America® men's swimming and diving team as selected by the College Sports Communicators with his second straight appearance on the first team.

Morford holds a 3.96 grade point average in mechanical engineering and returned to the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships for the third time in his career this season. The junior had another successful national meet, winning the 100-yard backstroke for the second time while earning five additional All-America awards and one All-America Second Team award. Morford's top finishes at the meet included a runner-up finish in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard medley relay, a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard IM and 800-yard freestyle relay, and a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

At the University Athletic Association (UAA) meet this year, Morford placed second in the 100-yard butterfly, was third in the 100-yard backstroke and picked up second-place finishes in the 400-yard freestyle relay and 200-yard medley relays, with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The junior is a four-time national champion, 17-time All-America with seven first or second-places finishes, a four-time All-America Second Team honoree, the 2025 UAA Swimmer of the Year, a two-time UAA Champion, and a 14-time All-UAA honoree.

Morford is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and helped organize Field Day while also helping to create resources for new student-athletes. He participates in SDC Buggy assisting with the construction of the team's buggy. He spent the 2025 summer as an engineering intern at Auria Solutions while previously working as a head swim coach and lifeguard for Falling Oaks Swim Club in his hometown of Medina, Ohio.

This is the fifth straight year a Tartan was honored with the selection. Other Tartan honorees include Arnav Deshpande (2025), Christian Lanuza (2025), DJ Lloyd (2024), James Kyle (2023), Justin Britton (2019, 2020, 2022), Alex Hanson (2010, 2011), Chris Pearson (2004, 2005), and John Murray (1999).
