Tartans Place 7th at NCAA Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team finished the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in seventh place by tallying 168 points.

Inside the Final Day

  • Senior Arnav Deshpande just missed qualifying for the consolation finals of the 100-yard freestyle when he touched 17th in the preliminaries with a career-best time of 44.46 seconds.
  • Freshman Tenmy Wangpo completed his first NCAA Championships with a 25th-place effort in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:48.78.
  • Senior Max Kulbida closed his career with a 21st-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:02.83.

Total Awards for the Meet

All-America (1st-8th):

  • Junior Brayden Morford - National Champion in the 100-yard backstroke, second place in the 100-yard butterfly, fifth place in the 200-yard IM
  • Deshpande - seventh place in the 100-yard backstroke
  • 200-yard medley relay (2nd) - Deshpande, junior Aaron Lee, Morford, freshman Noah Barrett
  • 800-yard freestyle relay (5th) - freshman Alex Luebke, Morford, freshman Max Gu, junior Cole Venters
  • 200-yard freestyle relay (6th) - Morford, sophomore Todd Dong, Deshpande, Barrett

All-America Second Team (9th-16th):

  • Wangpo - 13th in the 200-yard butterfly, 15th place in the 400-yard IM
  • Lee - 16th in the 100-yard breaststroke
  • 400-yard medley relay (12th) - Deshpande, Kulbida, Morford, Dong
