Deshpande Claims All-UAA Status on Second Day of UAA Championships

(CHICAGO, Ill.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team finished the second day of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday, February 12. The Tartans are currently in fifth place with 378 points.

Top Performances

  • The 200-yard freestyle relay composed of junior Brayden Morford, freshman Noah Barrett, sophomore Todd Dong, and senior Arnav Deshpande touched the wall third with a time of 1:19.95.
  • Junior Cole Venters was the top finisher for the Tartans in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing 15th overall in 4:34.44.
  • Morford finished fourth in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:47.80.
  • The top Tartan in the 50-yard freestyle was Deshpande who earned All-UAA recognition by finishing in third place with a time of 20.06, just .02 seconds off his personal best.
  • The Tartans swam a 3:15.90 to finish in fourth place in the 400-yard medley relay with Deshpande, senior Max Kulbida, junior Aaron Lee, and freshman Alex Luebke.
