Tartans Set Two School Records on First Day of Kenyon Total Performance Invitational

(GAMBIER, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team competed in the first day of the Total Performance Invitational at Kenyon College on Thursday, November 20. Two school records were broken, on just the first day of the meet.

Top Performances

  • In the prelims of the 50-yard freestyle, sophomore Matt Peitler swam a 19.73, breaking junior Brayden Morford's school record of 19.82 that he set one year ago at this very same meet. His time was also a meet record.
  • During the finals Peitler placed second swimming a time of 19.75, while a senior from Kenyon broke the meet record Peitler set earlier in the day.
  • The Tartans led off the evening session with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Morford, Peitler, freshman Noah Barrett and senior Arnav Deshpande scoring 36 points with a time of 1:18.54, breaking both their previous school record set at NCAA's and the previous meet record from last year.
  • Senior David Zoota placed 15th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:36.41.
  • Morford won the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:47.78. Just behind him in third was freshman Max Gu with a time of 1:50.12.
  • The 400-yard medley relay team of Morford, junior Aaron Lee, freshman Giulio Migliarina and Peitler closed the meet as runner up in 3:14.24.
