Tartans Have Early Success at Pitt Relay Meet
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team opened the 2025-26 season at the University of Pittsburgh for a relay meet against the Division I Panthers.
Inside the Results
- The 200-yard medley relay started the event with a third-place showing behind a swim of 1:32.60 from senior Arnav Deshpande, junior Aaron Lee, junior Brayden Morford, and sophomore Matthew Peitler.
- The 500-yard crescendo relay was next with the Tartans placing fourth in 4:07.02. Deshpande led off while Peitler, junior Cole Venters, and junior Jacob Quan closed the event.
- The 3x100-yard butterfly relay of Morford, junior Austin Lathrop, and junior Giulio Migliarina placed second in 2:29.71.
- Junior Andy Lu, junior Jerry Chu, and Lee swam the 3x100-yard breaststroke relay and placed third in 2:57.20.
- Morford, sophomore Matvey Malinovski, and freshman Max Gu swam the 3x100-yard backstroke relay and finished in 2:29.51 to place second. Morford's split of 24.81 led the field.
- Up next was the 400-yard medley relay. Gu, Migliarina, Lu, and Malinovski combined for a time of 3:32.39 to place third.
- The men's 200-yard freestyle relay of Morford, Peitler, freshman Noah Barrett,and Malinovski took second in 1:23.37.
Up Next
The divers will go to Kenyon College on Friday, October 17 through Saturday, October 18, while the swimmers head to Washington and Lee University on Saturday, October 18 for an 11:00 a.m. start.
