Morford and Lindstrom Claim UAA Weekly Honors
(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team swept the University Athletic Association (UAA) weekly awards as sophomore Brayden Morford and senior Jonathan Lindstrom were named the UAA Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week for their performances in a dual meet against Case Western Reserve University.
Morford won three individual events and a relay during the meet which the Tartans won 211-87. Morford touched first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.58), the 100-yard freestyle (46.17), and the 200-yard IM (1:51.18). He was also part of the 200-yard medley relay that opened the meet with a win in 1:30.63. Morford's races in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard IM this weekend put him at the top of the Division III list while his time in the 100-yard freestyle is ninth. The team's 200-yard medley relay time from the weekend is third in the nation.
Lindstrom won both the 1-meter diving event and the 3-meter diving event by tallying 268.35 points on the 1-meter board and 266.25 points on the 3-meter board after six dives each.
The Tartans return to the pool on Saturday, November 9 with an away meet at Gettysburg College.
