Tartans Fall 92-76 in UAA Play to Brandeis
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team hosted Brandeis University on Sunday afternoon and dropped a 92-76 contest in University Athletic Association (UAA) play. The Tartans are now 10-6 overall and 1-4 in UAA play while the Judges move to 12-4, 3-2.

How it Happened
- Brandeis jumped out to an early 6-2 lead two minutes into the contest before the Tartans rattled off nine straight points and took an 11-6 lead at the 16-miunte mark.
- The Tartans lead grew to 16-9 before Brandeis knotted the score at 22-all, but three foul shots from sophomore Isaac Higgs and a triple by senior Aidan Murphy gave Carnegie Mellon a 28-22 advantage with 7:56 to play in the half.
- Brandeis responded with an 11-2 run, scoring nine straight during the spurt, and lead 33-30 with the clock showing 6:10.
- The rest of the half saw the lead change hands seven times before the Brandeis went into the locker room with a 49-48 lead.
- The second half opened with the Judges scoring the first six points an extend the lead to 55-48.
- The visitors continued to maintain control as the run expanded to 20-9 over the first 8:37 of the frame, as scoreboard read 69-57.
- Over the next three minutes, Carnegie Mellon cut into the deficit and trailed 71-64 following a steal and a fastbreak layup by junior Justin Allen.
- That was as close as the Tartans got, as Brandeis scored the next nine points and led 80-64 with 6:24 to play.
Tartan Stats
- The Tartans ended the game shooting 41.5% (27-65) while converting 10-of-29 (34.5%) from long range.
- Graduate student R.J. Holmes led the team with a season-high of 24 points. He also tied his career-high with five assists.
- Higgs finished with a career-high 15 points while Murphy ended with a season-best 14 points. Allen chipped in with 11 in the setback.
Judges Stats
- The Judges finished shooting 52.5% (31-59) from the floor and made 14-of-28 (50.0%) from behind the arc.
- Elias Rodl led six Brandeis players in double figures with 20 points. Toby Harris finished with 18.
- Sam Adusei scored 15 points and a game-high of eight rebounds
- Matthew Cadogan, Aedan Using and Ethan Edwards each had 10 points.
- Using finished with a game-high eight assists.
