Allen Honored by UAA and D3hoops.com
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball junior Justin Allen was honored by D3hoops.com on the Team of the Week as well as being named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week. Allen helped the Tartans to a pair of home victories over the weekend at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Challenge.
Allen opened play in the Tartans' 69-66 win over Bowdoin scoring 36 points on 13-of-23 (56.5%) shooting from the floor and went a perfect 8-of-8 from the foul line. It marked his sixth career game of scoring 30 or more points in a game and second this season. The junior then scored 24 points in the Tartans' 80-75 win over 21st-ranked Middlebury. In the two games, Allen averaged 30.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and converted 12-of-13 from the foul line.
During the Tartans win over Bowdoin, Allen scored his 1,000th career point becoming the 22nd player in program history to do so. He currently has 1,043 points for his career.
Carnegie Mellon will host Washington and Jefferson College on Tuesday, December 17 with a tip off time at 12:00 p.m.
