Men’s Basketball Earns 12th Straight Team Academic Honors by NABC; Seven Individuals Honored
(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) when the committee on academics announced the annual Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2023-24. The Tartans have achieved the honor each of the 12 seasons it has existed.
Besides the team being honored, seven members were selected to the NABC Honors Court, recognizing those collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the 2023-24 season.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, an institution must have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or better for the 2023-24 season. The Tartans earned a team cumulative GPA of 3.50.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court, and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. To be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be academically a junior or senior, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2023-24 academic year, must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution and be a member of an NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Institution.
The seven Tartans honored were senior Jack Stone along with juniors Michael Acquaah-Harrison, Aidan Booher, Nolan Casey, Jonathan Milloway, Aidan Murphy and Lucas Pavlounis.
