Allen Honored by UAA and D3hoops.com For Second Time

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – For the second time in the last three weeks, Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball sophomore Justin Allen was honored by D3hoops.com on the Team of the Week as well as being named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week. Allen led the Tartans to a 2-0 week with a 95-88 win at Washington and Jefferson College and a 71-61 win versus Denison University.

In the Tartans' win at W&J, Allen became just the third Tartan player since 2005 to score 40 points in a game. He did it on 13-of-21 (.619) shooting from the field while sinking 12-of-14 from the free throw line. He also grabbed four rebounds in the win. After the holiday break, Allen led the Tartans with 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win over Denison. For the week, he shot 51.4% from the floor and 75.0% from the free throw line with 6.5 boards a game.

Allen is the second Tartan in program history to be recognized multiple times on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. During the 2015-16 season Jack Serbin received the honor twice as well as once during the 2014-15 season.
