Carnegie Mellon Athletics Expands Full-Time Tennis Coaching Staff with Addition of Andrew Kaelin

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University Department of Athletics is proud to welcome Andrew Kaelin as a full-time assistant coach for men’s and women’s tennis.

Kaelin comes to Pittsburgh from the University of Oregon, where he served as an assistant coach for the women’s tennis team during the 2024–25 season. A 2024 graduate of Colorado College with a Bachelor of Science degree in organismal biology and ecology, Kaelin also worked at the Eugene Swim and Tennis Club as an instructor while assisting the Ducks’ program.

At Colorado College, Kaelin played number one singles and doubles while earning a top-10 singles ranking in the West Region—the highest in program history.

The creation of this new full-time position was made possible by a generous contribution providing funding for the next three years. Additional contributions have continued to come in for this strategic priority, reflecting the community’s strong commitment to advancing the tennis program.

"We are incredibly grateful for the vision of our donors that so closely aligns with our strategic ambitions to be one of the most competitive tennis programs in Division III,” said Director of Athletics Josh Centor. “We couldn’t be more excited about adding Andrew to our coaching staff and know this will have a huge impact on our current team, as well as our ability to expand our recruiting efforts."

Kaelin’s appointment reflects Carnegie Mellon’s broader mission to provide student-athletes with the resources, coaching, and competitive opportunities needed to excel at the highest levels, while fostering a culture of excellence on and off the court.
