Bio

Katherine Shipe joined the Carnegie Mellon University Department of Athletics as a full-time athletic trainer in the fall of 2025. Shipe comes to Pittsburgh from Penn State New Kensington where she served as an athletic trainer since November 2024.

Shipe graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training in 2016 and immediately began work as a clinical specialist at Elizur Corporation working alongside orthopedic surgeons. In January 2017, Shipe started her athletic training career as an assistant athletic trainer at Seton Hill University through Independence Health System. At Seton Hill, Shipe worked with the football, men's basketball, men's soccer, women's soccer, wrestling, baseball, women's basketball, women's tennis, and women's golf programs until November 2023.

Shipe continued to work for Independence Health System as a full-time athletic trainer from November 2023 until her hiring at Penn State Kew Kensington.

Shipe will be working with the women's soccer, women's cross country, women's basketball, and men's and women's tennis teams in her first year at Carnegie Mellon.
