Alex Feies - Men's Tennis

Sophomore Alex Feies of the Carnegie Mellon men's tennis team, ranked ninth nationally, helped the Tartans win the inaugural Battleground Invitational hosted by the University of Mary Washington over the weekend. In a field of eight ranked teams in the top 25 nationally, the Tartans won three matches, the first a 4-2 win over the host #15 Eagles followed by a 4-3 semifinal win over UAA foe #8 WashU and then defeated #7 Johns Hopkins University 4-2 in the championship match. Feies over the three matches went 3-0 in singles play at the top spot and 2-1 in doubles play, winning once at one doubles and went 1-1 at three doubles. All three of his singles matches were straight set victories.
