Poss Tallies Career-Best 15 Points at #21 Emory

(ATLANTA, Ga.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team traveled to Atlanta, Ga. to play the 21st-ranked Eagles of Emory University in a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest and fell 76-55.  The loss moves Carnegie Mellon's record to 13-11, 5-8 while the Eagles move to 21-3, 11-2.

Back-to-back three-pointers by Tartan sophomore Gabrielle West (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) and freshman Amanda McHenry (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) knotted the score at 15-15 with 12 minutes to play in the half.  Emory then scored five straight points and 12 of the next 14 points to grab a 27-17 lead.

The Eagles continued to have the hot hand, as they shot 52% from the floor in the half and took a 41-24 lead into the locker room.  Carnegie Mellon end the frame shooting 36%

Following a pair of made foul shots by McHenry that made the score 52-38 with 13:19 to play in the game, Emory went on a 14-1 run over the next five minutes to extend the lead to 66-39 and went on for the 76-55 victory. Emory shot 47% from the floor to Carnegie Mellon's 36% for the game.

Freshman Lindsay Poss (Poolesville, Md.) recorded a career-high 15 points to lead the Tartans while freshman Liza Otto (Glastonbury, Conn.) was the only other Tartan to score in double figures with 10 points.  Poss also turned in a career performance from the foul line making 9-of-11.
Emory was led by Misha Jackson's 19 points.  Hannah Lilly added 15 while Danielle Landry finished with 10 points. Jackson recorded a double-double as she collected a game-high 13 rebounds.

Carnegie Mellon will conclude its regular season on Saturday, February 23 when they head to Cleveland, Ohio to play Case Western Reserve University at 3:00 p.m.
