  • Men’s Golf Receives Academic Accolades for 2014-15 Season
    July 30, 2015
    The 2014-15 Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team was one of 34 NCAA Division III institutions in receiving the All-Academic Team award from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The Tartans finished the year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.39 finishing as one of the top Division III institutions.
  • Qian Named PING Honorable Mention All-America
    June 24, 2015
    Sophomore George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) became the third Carnegie Mellon University men’s golfer in school history to be named All-America. Qian was recognized on the NCAA Division III PING All-America honorable mention team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), joining Ian and Paul Bangor as the only other All-Americans in Tartan golf history. Ian achieved the honor in 2013 while his father Paul received the distinction in 1985.
  • Qian Named Capital One Academic All-District

    Carnegie Mellon University sophomore George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy), a member of the men’s golf team, was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team. CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition with the official sponsor of Capital One.
  • Four Men’s Golfers Garner Postseason Accolades

    Four Carnegie Mellon University men’s golfers have been recognized for their play on the course his past season. Senior Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) along with sophomores George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) and Jordan Klodowski (Kittanning, Pa.) were named to the 2015 PING Mid-Atlantic Region team by the Golf Coaches Association of America while senior Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) was named a Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.
  • Tartans End Season at Mercyhurst Spring Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team placed fifth at the Mercyhurst University Spring Invitational Monday, April 20 after carding a 36-hole team score of 615 (306-309). Mercyhurst won the event with a score of 601 (301-300) on the par-72 Lake View Country Club.
  • Low Cards Season-Best Round at Day One of the Mercyhurst Spring Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team carded a first round team score of 306 at the Mercyhurst University Spring Invitational Sunday, April 19. The 36-hole event is being played on the par-72 course at Lake View Country Club in Northeast, Pennsylvania.
  • Qian Named UAA Men's Golf Athlete of the Week

    Carnegie Mellon University Sophomore George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Golf Athlete of the Week following two top-five finishes including individual medalist honors during last week. The honor is Qian's second of the season.
  • Men’s Golf Hosts Annual Spring Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team hosted its annual fall invitational on Tuesday, April 14 and carded a 305 to place fifth as a team. The 18-hole event was held at the Longue Vue Club. Brian Giesler from Grove City was the individual medalist shooting a one-under par 69.
  • Men’s Golf Wins Edward Jones Shootout; Sets School Team Record

    At the final day of the Edward Jones Shootout Sunday, April 12, the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team shot a season-low round of 288 to place first at the annual Shootout finishing the tournament with a team score of 583 (295-288) which set a new school record for a two-round team score. The previous record was 593. The two-round event was held at The Links @ Spring Church in Apollo, Pennsylvania. The Tartans claimed four of the top five individual spots.
  • Del Bosque Ties School Record at Day One of Edward Jones Shootout

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team hosted the first day of the annual Edward Jones Shootout Saturday, April 11 at The Links @ Spring Church in Apollo, Pennsylvania. The Tartans entered two teams into the Shootout with the ‘B’ squad appearing as individuals on the official results. The Tartans ‘B’ Team currently leads the field after firing a 294 Saturday on the par-70 course.
  • Qian Wins Individual Medalist at Hershey Cup – Ties Two School Records

    At the final day of the Hershey Cup, sophomore George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team tied the school record for the lowest round with a four-under par 67 on Monday, April 6. The 36-hole tournament is being held on the par-71 East Course at Hershey Country Club where the Tartans finished with a team score of 620 (318-302) to place fourth as team, one-stroke behind nationally ranked St. John Fisher.
  • Men’s Golf Tied for Fifth Following First Round of Hershey Cup

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team currently is tied for fifth-place at the 15-team Hershey Cup following the first round of play in the 36-hole tournament. On Sunday, the Tartans fired a team score of 318 on the par-71, East Course at Hershey Country Club. The two-day event is being hosted by the University of Rochester.
  • Qian Named ECAC Division III Men’s Golfer of the Month

    Sophomore George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team was named Division III Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Men’s Golfer of the Month following his play during the Tartans’ spring trip south.
  • Klodowski Fires Six Birdies on Third Day of Jekyll Island Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team completed play at the 2015 Jekyll Island Collegiate Sunday, March 15. The Tartans finished tied for 21st after 54 holes of play with a three-round total of 913 (302-311-300). The three-day event was played on the 6,711-yard, par-72 Pine Lakes Course on Jekyll Island.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team continued play at the second day of the 2015 Jekyll Island Collegiate Saturday, March 14. The Tartans are currently in tied for 21st after 36-holes of play with a two-round total of 613 (302-311). The three-day event is being played on the 6,711-yard, par-72 Pine Lakes Course on Jekyll Island.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team currently is in a tie for 11th-place following the first round of the 16th Annual Jekyll Collegiate Invitational played on Friday, March 13. The Tartans turned in a team score of 302 in a field of 30 teams. The three-day, 54-hole event is being held at the par-72 Pine Lakes Course on Jekyll Island.
  • Qian Wins Playoff at UAA Championships, Team Takes Second

    Sophomore George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) sank a putt to force a playoff at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Golf Championships on Monday, March 9, and finished as the individual medalist with a victory on the first playoff hole at Red Tail Country Club in Sorrento, Florida, to lead the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team to a second-place finish with a score of 616. The University of Rochester won the event with a two-day total of 611.
  • Tartans Two Strokes Back After First Round of UAA Championships

    After a closely contested first round of golf at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Golf Championship at Red Tail Country Club in Sorrento, Florida, the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team is sitting third but just two strokes behind the University of Rochester who carded a 311 for the day.
  • Carnegie Mellon University Announces the Coach Richard Erdelyi Endowed Fund for Men’s Golf

    The Carnegie Mellon Athletics community had reason to celebrate on Monday, October 13, as the department announced the creation of an endowed fund to support the men’s golf program. Ronald Low and Wanda Denson-Low, parents of senior golfer Cameron Low, made a gift of $100,000 to establish The Coach Richard Erdelyi Endowed Fund for the Men's Golf Team.
  • Tartans Win Annual Fall Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team hosted its annual fall invitational on Wednesday, October 8 and carded a 309 to win the five-team tournament. The 18-hole event was held at the Longue Vue Club. Jorden Alfery from Grove City College was the individual medalist shooting a five-over par 75.
  • Qian Records Second Top 10 Finish of Season at Mercyhurst Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team improved nine strokes from its opening round at the Mercyhurst University Fall Invitational to finish with a team score of 605 (307-298) on Monday, September 29. The Tartans placed eighth out of 14 teams as Roberts Wesleyan University won the event with a score of 590 on the par 72 Lake View Country Club. The Tartans team round of 298 was the third best on Monday and matched their lowest round of the fall.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team carded a first round team score of 307 at the Mercyhurst University Invitational Sunday, September 28. The 36-hole event is being played on the par-72 course at Lake View Country Club.
  • Tartans Place Fifth at Guy W. Kuhn Invitational

    Sophomores George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) fired back-to-back rounds of 75 for a two-day total of 150 to finish tied for sixth individually at the annual Allegheny College Guy W. Kuhn Memorial Invitational hosted at the par 72 Country Club of Meadville. The Tartans carded a 314 on Monday to finish with a 622 and tied for fifth-place as a team.
  • Men's Golf in Fourth After 18-holes at Guy Kuhn Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team competed at the first day of the annual Allegheny College Guy W. Kuhn Memorial Invitational hosted at the par 72 Country Club of Meadville by Allegheny College. The Tartans are tied for fourth place following day one of action after carding a team score of 308.
  • Fischler Leads Tartans at Hal Hansen Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed at the final day of the 36-hole Hal Hansen Invitational Monday, September 8 and fired a team score of 309 finishing with a team score of 607. The Tartans 607 placed sixth on the par 72 Clarion Oaks Golf Club. The two day event was hosted by Clarion University.
  • Tartans Sit Third After First Round of Hal Hansen Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed at the Hal Hansen Invitational Sunday afternoon and are currently in third-place following the first 18 holes of the invitational. The 36-hole event is being held at the par 72 Clarion Oaks Golf Club by Clarion University. On Sunday, the Tartans fired a 298 leaving them one-stroke back of California (Pa.) and four behind the team leader Mercyhurst.
