Bangor's One-Under Leads Tartans at Fall Invitational

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Junior Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) carded his fourth round under 70 this season in leading the Carnegie Mellon University golf team to a first-place team finish at its Fall Invitational Thursday, October 11 at the Longue Vue Club.  Bangor's one-under par 69 won him top individual medalist, as the Tartans turned in a team score of 308.

Bangor's top finish marked the eighth medalist honor of his career.  Finishing behind the junior were fellow junior Grant Strimel (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and freshman Ben DuCarme (McMurray, Pa./Canon-McMillan) both with rounds of 78 tying for third-place.  Sophomore Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) fired an 84 while sophomore Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) rounded out the Tartans top five with an 87.

Carnegie Mellon also had six individuals play on Thursday with sophomore Derek Cobb (Urbana, Ohio) pacing the pack with an 81 placing sixth overall. Freshman Mason Struthers (DeKalb, Ill.) finished a stroke back of Cobb placing seventh with an 82 while sophomore Austin Cheng (Chester, N.J./Phillips Exeter Academy) shot an 85.

Junior Alexander Fry (Grand Island, N.Y.) ended the day with a 92 while both junior Matt Wilson (Orange, Calif./Villa Park) and freshman Brian Chren (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./The Pendleton School) shot a 95.
