  • Golf Team Receives Academic Accolades for 2011-12 Season

    The Carnegie Mellon University golf team was one of 26 NCAA Division III institutions in receiving the All-Academic Team award from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The Tartans finished the year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.46 finishing as one of the top Division III institutions.

  • Bangor Named Academic All-District

    Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy), a member of the golf team, was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team. CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition with the official sponsor of Capital One.
  • Bangor Named PING Mid-Atlantic All-Region

    Sophomore Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University golf team was named to the 2012 PING Mid-Atlantic Region team by the Golf Coaches Association of America. This marks Bangor’s second straight season accomplishing the honor as he becomes the ninth Tartan to be recognized regionally.
  • Bangor Becomes All-Time Wins Leader With Victory at Spring Invitational

    Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) claimed top medalist at the Tartans’ Spring Invitational Thursday, April 26 at the Longue Vue Club, after carding a one-over par 71. Bangor’s victory marked the sixth of his career, as he becomes the school’s all-time wins leader.
  • Golf’s Ian Bangor Earns Second UAA Athlete of the Week Honor

    Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Golf Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, after placing second at the Kravetz Invitational last weekend. The Kravetz Invitational was hosted by the University of Rochester.
  • Bangor and Strimel Lead Tartans at Kravetz

    The Carnegie Mellon University golf team finished the Kravetz Invitational on Saturday, April 21 in fourth place with ateam score of 640. Nebraska Wesleyan won the invitational after firing a 631. Play began Friday at the par-72 Irondequoit Country Club with Saturday’s round being played at the par-71 Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y.
  • Bangor Captures Medalist Honors at Annual Edward Jones Shootout

    At the final day of the Edward Jones Shootout Sunday, April 15, the Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team shot a 301 to place tied for fourth. The Tartans ended the 36-hole event with a team score of 622. Allegheny College won the two-day event that was held at the par-70, The Links @ Spring Church in Apollo, Pa. with a team score of 604.
  • Bangor Leads Tartans at Day One of Edward Jones Shootout

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team hosted the first day of the annual Edward Jones Shootout Saturday, April 14 at The Links @ Spring Church in Apollo, Pa. Following the first round, the Tartans are in sixth place after they fired a team score of 321 on the par-70 course.
  • Golf Ties for Seventh at Mid-Atlantic Regional

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team carded a 339 on the final day of the Mid-Atlantic Regional to finish tied for seventh with a two-day team score of 672. The two-day 14-team event was held at the par-71, Hershey Country Club.
  • Bangor Top Scorer for Tartans at First Round of Mid-Atlantic Regional

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team currently is in ninth place at the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Regional Invitational following the first round of play in the 36-hole tournament. On Sunday, the Tartans fired a team score of 333 at the par-71, Hershey Country Club.

  • Bangor Claims Individual Medalist as Tartans Win Titan Invitational

    Sophomore Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) claimed top individual medalist as the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team won the 2012 Titan Invitational hosted by Westminster College at the New Castle Country Club Monday, March 26. The Tartans fired a team score of 313, finishing nine strokes ahead of second-place Clarion University.
  • Einhorn Cards Par in Final Round of Jekyll Island Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team finished 26th out of 30 teams at the 2012 Jekyll Island Invitational Sunday, March 18. The three-day, 54-hole event was held at the par-72 Pine Lakes and Indian Mound courses on Jekyll Island. The Tartans finished with a team score of 938 (304-326-308). Their best round came Friday afternoon as they fired a 304.
  • Strimel Records Career-Low Round as Tartans Place Third at UAA Golf Championships

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team placed third at the 2012 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Wednesday, March 14. The Tartans carded a final round team score of 310 after carding a 308 in the opening round Tuesday to finish with a 36-hole total of 618. The two-day event was held at the Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team currently is in third place at the 2012 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships following the first 18 holes of play. On Tuesday, March 13 the Tartans fired a team score of 308. The two-day, 36-hole event is being played at the Red Tail Golf Course in Sorrento, Fla. on the 6,768-yard, par-72 course.
  • Einhorn Paces Tartans at Vulcan Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University golf team competed in the 36-hole two-day, Vulcan Invitational hosted by California University of Pennsylvania at the Cedarbrook Golf Course, October 22-23. After firing a season-low team round of 297 Saturday in the opening round, the Tartans carded a 321 on Sunday finishing with a score of 618, placing fourth in the five-team event.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team hosted its Fall Invitational Thursday, October 6 at the Longue Vue Club and finished second with a team score of 308. Washington & Jefferson shot a 307 to claim top honors on the par 70 course.

  • Tartans Place Eighth at Annual Guy W. Kuhn Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team competed in the two-day annual Guy W. Kuhn Invitational hosted at The Country Club of Meadville by Allegheny College. After carding a team round of 319 Sunday, the Tartans improved 17 strokes on Monday firing a 302 for a 36-hole score of 621, placing them eighth in the field of 19 teams.
  • Golf Wins Grove City Fall Invitational

    Sophomore Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) finished second as an individual with a two-over par 74, in leading the Carnegie Mellon University golf team to a first-place finish at the Grove City Invitational on Tuesday, September 13. The 18-hole event was held at the Grove City Country Club. The Tartans fired a 314 as a team.
