  • Jurgens and So-Holloway Named to All-ECAC Team

    Senior opposite Sarah Jurgens (Eagan, Minn.) and junior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team were named to the All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Volleyball Team, as announced by the ECAC late Wednesday afternoon. Of the seven members on this year’s ECAC team, the Tartans are the lone school with multiple honorees. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Tartans have had multiple athletes recognized by the ECAC and sixth straight season of having at least one honoree.

    Two longtime members of the Carnegie Mellon University Athletics community, Head Volleyball Coach Kim Kelly and Coordinator of Athletics Support Services Joan Maser, have announced their retirement, with Kelly expanding her role as Associate Director of Athletics.

    Five days after being named Mid-Atlantic Region American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Player of the Year, junior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named Second Team All-America while senior opposite Sarah Jurgens (Eagan, Minn.) landed a spot on the third team. Joining the two are senior outside hitter Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown SIEM Academy), junior middle blocker Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and junior libero Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) as All-America Honorable Mention honorees from the AVCA.
  • Tartans Run in NCAA Tournament Ends in Regional Final

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team played Ithaca College in the Regional Final of the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship on Sunday and dropped a 3-0 decision. The Tartans fell by the scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-23 on the Bombers home court.
  • Tartans Advance to NCAA Regional Final with a Five-Set Win Over RIT

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team competed in the second round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship and came from behind to defeat Rochester Institute of Technology in a five-set thriller on Saturday. The three-day regional event is being played at Ithaca College. With the win, the Tartans advance to the regional final match for the first time in school history. Carnegie Mellon improves to 24-10 overall while RIT ends its season with a mark of 29-5.
  • Tartans Open NCAA Tournament with Win Against Morrisville State

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team opened the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship with a 3-1 win against Morrisville State University on Friday, November 9 at Ithaca College. The victory marked the second straight season the Tartans have advanced in the tournament.
  • So-Holloway Named Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year; Five Tartans Receive AVCA All-Region Recognition

    Junior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named Mid-Atlantic Region American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Player of the Year. So-Holloway becomes the first Tartan to receive the region’s top award. Joining the junior on the Mid-Atlantic Region team are senior outside hitter Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown SIEM Academy), senior opposite Sarah Jurgens (Eagan, Minn.), junior middle blocker Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and junior libero Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral).
  • Four Tartans Named to the All-UAA Volleyball Squad

    Four Carnegie Mellon University volleyball players were named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) team when the squads were announced Wednesday. Junior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) was named to the first team while senior outside hitter Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown SIEM Academy), junior middle blocker Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and junior libero Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) were named to the second team. This marks the third straight year that at least four Tartans were named to the UAA squad.

    (INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – For the third straight season, the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team received an at-large bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship when the bracket was announed on Monday afternoon. This marks the program's sixth overall appearance and fifth under 14-year head coach Kim Kelly.

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team finished in fourth-place at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Saturday with a 3-1 (18-25, 25-19, 18-25, 23-25) setback to 13th-ranked Washington University who finished with an overall record of 24-7. The 2018 Championship was held at the University of Rochester.

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team began play at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Friday, November 2 at the University of Rochester. The Tartans defeated Case Western Reserve University, 3-0, in the opening round before falling to No. 11 Emory University, 3-0, in the semifinals. The Tartans are now 22-9 for the year.
  • Tartans Top Brockport in Final Home Match

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team defeated the College of Brockport, 3-0, on Saturday in its final home match of the season. The Tartans are now 21-8 for the season while the Golden Eagles are 19-11.
  • Tartans Take Care of Business Against #19 Ithaca

    Carnegie Mellon University's volleyball team handed the 19th-ranked Bombers of Ithaca College a 3-1 setback on Friday night, as the Tartans celebrated the senior class prior to the contest. The home win for the Tartans improves their overall record to 20-8 while the Bombers are now 18-6. It marks the sixth straight season that the Cardinal and Gray have reached the 20-win plateau.
  • So-Holloway Earns Second UAA Weekly Honor

    Junior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week following her performance over the weekend. So-Holloway helped the Tartans to a 3-1 mark to improve the Cardinal and Gray’s overall record to 19-8. This marks her second honor by the UAA this season.

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team closed its home invitational on Saturday, October 20 with two 3-0 wins, defeating Saint Mary's College, 25-18, 25-20, 25-13, and North Park University, 25-18, 25-14, and 25-21. The Tartans are now 19-8 for the season.

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team opened play in its mini invitational Friday night against Alma College and Arcadia University, splitting action with a 3-2 win against Alma and 3-1 loss to Arcadia. The Tartans are now 17-8 on the season.
  • Tartans Finish UAA Round Robin Play with a Split

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team completed University Athletic Association (UAA) play on Sunday afternoon and split a pair of matches at home. The Tartans began play on Sunday with a 3-1 (25-18, 25-16, 19-25, 25-18) over Case Western Reserve University before dropping a four-set match to eighth-ranked University of Chicago be the scores of 26-24, 28-26, 15-25, 25-19. The Tartans are now 16-7 for the year and 5-2 in UAA play.
  • Tartans Split UAA Matches at Home

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team split two matches in University Athletic Association (UAA) play at home on Saturday, October 13. The Tartans opened play against ninth-ranked Washington University in St. Louis, falling to the Bears in five sets. The second match of the day pitted the Tartans against Brandeis University, which the Tartans won 3-0. The Tartans are now 15-6 for the year and 4-1 in UAA play.
  • Four Athletes Honored as Andrew Carnegie Society Scholars

    Every year beginning in 1975, Carnegie Mellon University has honored a select number of undergraduate seniors as Andrew Carnegie Society (ACS) Scholars. This year, four athletes are included on the list of 40 honorees – Gabe Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass. / CRLS) of men's swimming and diving, Seth Henry (Fulton, Md. / Reservoir) of men's basketball, Rory Hubbard (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif. / Palos Verdes Peninsula) of football and Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) of volleyball.

    Junior middle blocker Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and junior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team were named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week following their performance at the UAA round robin event over the weekend. The two helped the Tartans to a 3-0 mark over the weekend, including a 3-1 win over #7 Emory University, as well as assisting the Tartans to 12 straight match victories.

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team won its 12th straight match and opened University Athletic Association (UAA) play with a 3-0 record after topping 7th-ranked Emory University, 3-1, on Sunday, September 30. The Tartans are now 14-5 overall while Emory moves to 10-4 with a 2-1 mark in UAA play.
  • Volleyball Extends Win Streak to 11 with a Pair of Wins to Open UAA Play

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team opened University Athletic Association (UAA) play with a pair of wins on Saturday to extend its winning streak to 11 matches. The UAA Round Robin #1 is being hosted by Brandeis University. The Tartans opened with a 3-1 (30-28, 11-25, 29-27, 25-13) win over New York University before topping the University of Rochester 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-17). The Cardinal and Gray are now 13-5 overall and 2-0 in UAA play.
  • Tartans Sweep Opponents to Close Home Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team finished its home DoubleTree Invitational with a clean slate, earning two more victories on Saturday, September 22. The Tartans opened the day with a 3-0 victory against previously undefeated University of Mount Union before closing the night with a 3-0 win against the University of Mary Washington. The Tartans improved to 10-5 after four weekend victories.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team opened the CMU DoubleTree Invitational on Friday with two wins. The Tartans started the night with a 3-0 win against Marietta College before topping Kean University, 3-0. The Tartans are now 9-5 on the season.

  • Tartans Sweep Barons
    September 18, 2018
    Carnegie Mellon University's volleyball team hosted the Barons of Franciscan University Tuesday night on the hardwood of Skibo Gymnasium and swept the match winning all three sets by the score of 25-9. The win is the fifth straight for the Tartans and moves their recorded to 7-5 while Franciscan is now 1-13.
  • Tartans Extend Streak to Four with a Pair of Wins at Muhlenberg Quad

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team continued play at the Muhlenberg College Quad on Saturday with wins over SUNY Cortland and Franklin & Marshall College. The pair of victories extends the Tartans win streak to four, as they improve to 6-5 on the young season. The Cardinal and Gray started the day with a straight set win over Cortland, winning 25-8, 25-22, 25-16 before topping F&M 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22).
  • Multiple Career Highs Recorded in Tartans 3-2 Win at Muhlenberg

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team opened play at the Muhlenberg College Quad with a five-set win over the host Mules. The Tartans won by the scores of 24-26, 25-23, 25-23, 23-25, 16-14 to move to 4-5 on the season. Muhlenberg is now 8-2.
  • Volleyball Records 3-0 Road Win at Saint Vincent
    September 11, 2018
    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team traveled to Latrobe, Pennsylvania on Tuesday and left with a 3-0 win over the Bearcats of Saint Vincent College. The Tartans move to 3-5 on the year while the Bearcats are now 3-6.
  • #24 Tartans End Play at Juniata Asics Invitational
    September 08, 2018
    The 24th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team competed at day two of the Juniata Asics Invitational on Saturday and dropped two contests. The Tartans fell 3-2 to Christopher Newport University to open play and then dropped a 3-1 match to 15th-ranked Juniata College. Carnegie Mellon is now 2-5 overall following its play in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.
