  • Donohue Named Third Team AVCA All-America; Three Others Named Honorable Mention

    Five days after being selected to the All-North Region team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), senior middle blocker Eliza Donohue (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named Third Team All-America. Donohue is joined by junior outside hitter Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy), junior opposite Sarah Jurgens (Eagan, Minn.) and sophomore libero Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) as All-America Honorable Mention honorees from the AVCA.
  • #10 Tartans End Season at NCAA Regional Semifinal

    The 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team played Swarthmore College in the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship at Stevenson University on Saturday and dropped a 3-0 decision. The Tartans fell by the scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-18.

    The 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team opened the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship at Stevenson University with a 3-2 win against the Eagles of Eastern University Friday, November 10. The Tartans improve to 30-4 while the Eagles complete the season with a 20-13 mark.
  • Tartans Land Five on AVCA All-Region Team; Kelly Named Region Coach of the Year

    Senior middle blocker Eliza Donohue (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), junior outside hitter Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy), junior opposite Sarah Jurgens (Eagan, Minn.) and sophomore libero Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) of the 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team were selected to the All-North Region team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Thursday, November 9. Senior outside hitter Heather Holton (Haslett, Mich.) joins her teammates on the squad as an honorable mention honoree. Head Coach Kim Kelly was also honored, as she was named Region Coach of the Year.
  • Six Tartans Named to the All-UAA Volleyball Squad

    Six Carnegie Mellon University volleyball players were named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) team when the squads were announced November 8. Senior middle blocker Eliza Donohue (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), junior outside hitter Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy) and sophomore libero Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) were named to the first team, junior opposite Sarah Jurgens (Eagan, Minn.) earned second team honors while senior outside hitter Heather Holton (Haslett, Mich.) and sophomore setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) were named honorable mention. This marks the first time in program history that three Tartans were named to the top UAA squad.

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team received an at-large bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship on Monday afternoon, marking the program's fifth appearance, second straight, and fourth under 13-year head coach Kim Kelly.

    The ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team defeated No. 20 University of Chicago in the third-place match of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship 3-1 on Saturday morning at the Woodruff PE Center on the campus Emory University. With the win, the Tartans improve to 29-4 overall while the Maroons are now 23-8.

    The ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women’s volleyball team topped Brandeis University, 3-2, in the opening round of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Friday afternoon. The Tartans are the number one seed for the tournament which is being hosted by Emory University.

    The ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team faced seventh-ranked Emory University in the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship semifinals Friday afternoon on Emory's home court at the Woodruff PE Center. The Eagles pulled out a 3-2 victory, knocking the Tartans' record to 28-4 for the year.

From women's cross country senior Aparna Alavilli (Hanover, N.H./Hanover) and freshman Parvathi Meyyappan (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista), from women's soccer freshman Carolyn Botz (St. Louis, Mo./Micds) and from volleyball sophomore Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral).

    The University Athletic Association (UAA) announced its 30th Anniversary Volleyball Team on Wednesday, October 25. Fifty-seven student-athletes earned the honor with four representing Carnegie Mellon University.

    The sixth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team played Ithaca College and Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday, October 28 at Eastern University. The Tartans fell to Ithaca 3-1 before topping Stevens 3-0.
  • #6 Tartans Sweep Host Eagles in Opening Match of the Eastern University Quad

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team, ranked sixth nationally, opened play at the Eastern University Quad with a 3-0 win over the host Eagles Friday night. The Tartans won by the scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-13 to improve to 26-2 while Eastern is now 18-10.
  • Yew Receives Second Straight UAA Weekly Honor

    For the second consecutive week and third time this season, sophomore libero Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week. Yew helped the sixth-ranked Tartans to a 3-0 mark at the Carnegie Mellon Mini Invitational over the weekend, as she continued her double-digit dig streak.

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team, ranked sixth nationally, hosted the Eagles of Juniata College on Tuesday and dropped a five-set match. The loss moves the Tartans record to 25-1 while Juniata is now 20-7.
  • #6 Tartans Close Out Home Weekend with Two 3-0 Victories

    The sixth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team closed a home weekend 3-0 with two more victories on Saturday, October 21. The Tartans opened the day with a 3-0 win against Cabrini College and finished the afternoon with a 3-0 win against Haverford College. The Tartans advance to 25-1 on the season.
  • #6 Tartans Drop Denison, 3-1, on Senior Night

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team hosted Denison University Friday evening as part of its mini invitational. The sixth-ranked Tartans improved to 23-1 with a 3-1 win against the Big Red who is now 11-11.

From football junior Alex Cline (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) and junior Rory Hubbard (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula), women's soccer freshman Carolyn Botz (St. Louis, Mo./Micds), from volleyball junior Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy) and sophomore Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral), men's cross country sophomore Evan Yukevich (Tokyo, Japan/American School in Japan) and women's cross country freshman Parvathi Meyyappan (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista).

Yew helped the 10th-ranked Tartans to a 4-0 mark at the UAA Round Robin #2 including two wins over ranked opponents (3-1 win over #13 Chicago and a 3-2 win over #4 Emory).

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team, ranked 10th nationally, continued its historic season with two more wins on Sunday afternoon at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin #2 hosted by the University of Chicago. The Tartans opened the day with a 3-0 win against Brandeis University and then closed play with a 3-2 win over fourth-ranked Emory University to improve to 22-1 overall and 6-1 in UAA play.

    The 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team pushed its record to 20-1 for the season and 4-1 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) on Saturday, October 14 with two wins at the UAA Round Robin #2 hosted by the University of Chicago. The Tartans opened the day with a 3-0 win against the University of Rochester before topping the hosts by a 3-1 score.

Volleyball sophomore Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral), men's soccer junior Zack Masciopinto (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove), women's soccer freshman Carolyn Botz (St. Louis, Mo./Micds) and men's cross country junior Aadi Mhatre (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) were all honored.

    Junior outside hitter Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy) and sophomore libero Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Ca-lif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team were named Uni-versity Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week following their performance at the UAA round robin event over the weekend. Mueller garnered offensive accolades for the second consecutive week while Yew earns defensive honors for the first time this season. The two helped the Tartans to a 2-1 mark.

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team, ranked 10th nationally, finished University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin play on Sunday, with a 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-19, 25-16) victory over 18th-ranked Washington University in Cleveland on the campus of Case Western Reserve University. The Tartans are now 18-1 and 2-1 in UAA play while the Bears move to 10-6, 2-1.
  • #10 Volleyball Opens UAA Play with a Split

    The 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team opened University Athletic Association (UAA) play with a mark of 1-1 on Saturday at Case Western Reserve University. The Tartans are now 17-1. The Tartans opened the UAA Round Robin with a 3-1 (26-24, 25-19, 11-25, 25-16) setback to the host Spartans before topping New York University 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23).

Mueller helped the Tartans to a 5-0 mark last week, as the 13th-ranked Tartans are off to their best start in program history (16-0).

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team, ranked 13th nationally, continued play at the Carnegie Mellon DoubleTree Invitational on Saturday, and recorded another pair of victories. The Tartans opened play with a five set win over Otterbein University winning by the scores of 25-17, 16-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-12. The Cardinal and Gray then moved to 16-0 with a 3-0 win over Mount Union by the scores of 25-23, 25-16, 25-16.
  • #13 Tartans Open DoubleTree Invitational with a Pair of Wins; Tartans Off to Best Start in Program History
    September 22, 2017
    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team, ranked 13th nationally, opened the Carnegie Mellon DoubleTree Invitational on Friday, September 22, with a pair of wins. The Tartans started the night with a 3-1 win against Messiah College before topping Salisbury University, 3-0. Carnegie Mellon improved to 14-0 and are off to their best start in program history. The 2004 team started the season with 12 straight victories.
