  • Celentano Named to the ECAC South All-Star Squad

    Senior right side hitter Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named to the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South All-Star Team as a first-team honoree. This marks her second straight appearance on the all-star team after being named a second-team member last season.
  • Tartans Take Second in the 2014 ECAC Southwest Region Championship

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team hosted the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southwest Region Championship Saturday, November 15. In the semifinals, the Tartans defeated Bethany College 3-1 to advance to the championship and took second after dropping 3-1 against Geneva College.
  • Holton Named UAA Rookie of the Year; Five Others Garner Volleyball All-UAA Honors

    Freshman Heather Holton (Haslett, Mich.) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team becomes the first Tartan to be named University Athletic Association (UAA) Volleyball Rookie of the Year as the Association announced its postseason accolades on Tuesday, November 11. Joining Holton with UAA honors are five other Tartans marking the most All-UAA selections in school history. It also marks the 17th straight season that the Tartans have had at least two members named to the All-UAA team.
  • Volleyball Selected as Top Seed for ECAC Southwest Tournament

    After finishing fourth in the University Athletic Association Championship over the weekend, the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team with a record of 22-11, has been selected as the number one-seed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southwest Region Tournament. The Tartans received a bye in the first round of the seven-team regional and will host the semifinals and finals on Saturday, November 15.

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team (22-11) finished in fourth place in the Univeristy Athletic Association Championships as they lost in three straight sets (26-24, 25-18, 25-18) to No. 5 ranked Washington University (33-5).

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team split on the first day of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, hosted by Carnegie Mellon. The Tartans defeated New York University 3-0 and then later dropped to No. 6 Emory University 3-0.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team closed out its regular season with a tough 3-2 loss at Allegheny College on Saturday, November 1. The Tartans are now 21-9 on the season and host the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship next week.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team matched up with No. 10 Juniata College and No. 17 Eastern University on Saturday, October 25 at the Wid Guisler Invitational hosted by Juniata. The Tartans fell 3-0 to Juniata and 3-1 to Eastern to move to 21-8 on the year.

    Freshman outside hitter Heather Holton (Haslett, Mich./Haslett) powered the Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team to two wins in University Athletic Association (UAA) play, Saturday, October 18, as the Tartans defeated University of Chicago 3-2 and Brandeis University 3-0. The Tartans now stand at 20-4 on the season and 4-1 in UAA play.

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team hosted Franciscan University Wednesday, October 15 and won 3-0 (28-25, 25-19, 25-15). The win improves the Tartans record to 18-4 while the Barons are now 8-15.

    Behind a strong hitting performance by sophomore Jackie Gibbons (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township), the Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team improved its record to 17-4 with two more 3-0 wins on Saturday, October 11 at the Ithaca College Tournament to close the tournament with four sweeps.

    Freshman Eliza Donohue (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week. Donohue played a huge part in the Tartans’ 2-1 mark at the UAA first round robin held in Atlanta, Georgia hosted by Emory University this past weekend.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team gave No. 3 Emory University all it could handle in a 3-2 loss to the Eagles in Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday, October 5 on the second day of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin #1. The Tartans are now 13-4 and 2-1 in the UAA while the Eagles are 21-2 and 3-0.
  • Carnegie Mellon Opens Day One of UAA Round Robin with Two Wins

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team defeated the University of Rochester 3-0 and Case Western Reserve Univeristy 3-1 on the first day of University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin play hosted by Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. The Tartans improve to 12-3 and 2-0 for the season.

    Carnegie Mellon University freshman Heather Holton (Haslett, Mich./Haslett) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Volleyball Athlete of the Week and Corvias Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Rookie of the Week following her performance this past weekend as the Tartans went 2-0 and improved their record to 11-3 for the season.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team swept two matches 3-0 on Sunday, September 28 at the College of Wooster. The Tartans, now 11-3 on the year, defeated No. 20 DePauw University (13-4) to start the day and then beat the host Fighting Scots, who are now 5-13.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team split action on Saturday, September 20 at home during the DoubleTree Invitational. In the first match, the team fell to John Carroll 3-0 before finishing the day with a 3-1 win over La Roche. The Tartans are now 9-3 on the year.

    Sophomore Jackie Gibbons (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) stood tall at the net to lead the Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team to a 2-0 night, including a 3-1 win over fifth-ranked University of Mount Union and a 3-1 win over University of Mary Washington in the Carnegie Mellon DoubleTree Invitational.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s volleyball team traveled to Marietta, Ohio Wednesday, September 17 and came away with a 3-1 victory over the Pioneers. The Tartans improve to 6-2 on the season while Marietta is now 2-10. The Tartans won the first game by the score of 25-16 then dropped game two 25-23, before winning 25-19 and 25-18 to seal the victory.
  • Tartans Drop First Matches of Season at Bethany Quad

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday, September 13 at the Bethany College Quad. The Tartans lost both by 3-0 scores falling 25-14, 25-12 and 25-21 to Thomas More before losing 25-22, 25-23, and 27-25 in the nightcap to the host Bison of Bethany.

    The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team stretched its win streak to five and remains undefeated with a 3-0 win over Saint Vincent College on Tuesday, September 9 in Skibo Gymnasium. Sophomore Emily Newton (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Chadwick School) led the team with 24 assists as the team forced the Bearcats into 23 hitting errors.
