  • Tartans Rack Up USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award
    July 24, 2014
    The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the men's 2014 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list. A total of 158 institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.1 or better.
  • Guevel Earns Second Academic All-District Honor

    For the second straight season, Carnegie Mellon University senior Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School), a member of the women’s track and field team, has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for women's cross country and track and field.
  • Three Tartans Elected to Prestigious Academic Honor Society

    Three Tartans were inducted into Carnegie Mellon University’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa earlier this month. Women's tennis player Katie Cecil, women’s track and field hurdler Kelsey Hallinen and men’s golfer Ian Bangor were selected to the nation's most prestigious undergraduate academic honor society.

    You can talk to anyone at Carnegie Mellon University – students, athletes, coaches, faculty, staff – and they will all tell you the same thing, “you can do anything you want to do here and everyone is so welcoming.” Senior women’s track and field athlete Kelsey Hallinen certainly brought that statement to life during her four-year career as a Tartan majoring in physics and minoring in history as a student in the Science and Humanities Scholars Program.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team continued to rake-in first place finishes as they competed in the CMU Quad Meet on Saturday afternoon. The Tartans placed second as a team with 163 points as Westminster won the Quad scoring 175 points.

After the first day of competition the Tartans are sitting in fifth place.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team finished fourth at the Denison University Bob Shannon Invitational on Saturday, February 8. Junior Sasha Spalding (Springhill, Fla./Sprinstead) broke her own school record while senior Sara Kelly (Madison, Wis./West) won the 3,000-meter run.
  • Tartans Grabbed Eight First Place Finishes at Battle of the Obelisk

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's indoor track and field team lost a close battle to Case Western Reserve in the sixth annual Battle of the Obelisk. The Tartans were outscored by the Spartans 70-57 despite taking first-place in eight events, but the women helped win the trophy with a combined score of 139-115 with the men's team.
