  • Girard Named Operations Manager for Intercollegiate Tennis - Belmonte Promoted to Head Men’s Tennis Coach

    The Carnegie Mellon Athletics Department has restructured its intercollegiate tennis program, which includes the promotion of Mike Belmonte to Head Men’s Tennis Coach. Andrew Girard will remain the Head Women’s Tennis Coach and will add responsibilities as Operations Manager for Intercollegiate Tennis.

    In a battle for fifth place at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Oracle Cup on Saturday, October 14, the Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis pair of sophomore Vinaya Rao (Vernon Hills, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) and freshman Melissa Strome (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) used a second-set comeback to win the match and finish fifth in the national tournament.

    Sophomore Vinaya Rao (Vernon Hills, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) and freshman Melissa Strome (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team won their consolation match at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Oracle Cup on Friday, October 13. The national tournament is being played at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.
  • Rao, Strome Open Play at ITA Oracle Cup

    Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis sophomore Vinaya Rao (Vernon Hills, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) and freshman Melissa Strome (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) opened play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Oracle Cup on Thursday, October 12, playing in the national event for the first time in their careers. The pair earned placement at the tournament by winning the ITA Southeast Regional Doubles Championship on September 24.
  • Tartans Earn Two 9-0 Wins at Home Saturday

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team hosted two dual matches on Saturday, October 7 and won both by 9-0 scores, topping Oberlin College and Christopher Newport University. The Tartans are now 4-0 on the season.
  • Rao, Strome Crowned ITA Southeast Regional Doubles Champions

    Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis was well represented on the final day of competition of the ITA Southeast Regional Championships owning the doubles final with two players competiting in the singles semifinals. Sophomore Vinaya Rao (Vernon Hills, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) and freshman Melissa Strome (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) were crowned winners of the doubles championship after topping their own teammates in a third set super tiebreaker.
  • Two Tartans to Play in ITA Southeast Regional Singles Semifinals; Doubles Final to Feature Two Tartan Tandems

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's' tennis team had two singles players advance to the semifinals and two doubles teams advance to the finals of the USTA-ITA Southeast Regional Women's Tennis Championship on Sunday. The regional is being held on the campus of University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
  • Five Tartans Advance to Round of 16 at ITA Regional; Three Doubles Tandems Head to Quarterfinals

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team started the USTA-ITA Southeast Regional Women's Tennis Championships on Saturday. The three-day event is being held on the campus of University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Five Tartans advanced to the round of 16 in singles play while a trio of doubles teams reached the quarterfinals.

    Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis freshman Alex Iordache (Princeton, N.J. / South Brunswick) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for her efforts at the Kenyon College Invitational on Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17.
  • Iordache Wins Two Titles at Kenyon Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team traveled to Gambier, Ohio, to play in the Kenyon College Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, September 16-17. Freshman Alex Iordache (Princeton, N.J. / South Brunswick) was a two-time champion at the event as she won her third singles flight and second doubles flight.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team hosted Division II Seton Hill University on Saturday, September 16, defeating the Griffins, 9-0. With the win, the Tartans move to 2-0 on the year.
  • Rosenfield Earns UAA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week Award

    Carnegie Mellon University freshman Hannah Rosenfield (Manchester, England/Windemere Preparatory School) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week on Monday, September 11. Rosenfield began her Tartan career against Grove City College before playing in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team hosted its annual Carnegie Mellon Invitational with Division I Duquesne University and Division II Mercyhurst College participating on Friday, September 8 and Saturday, September 9.
  • Women's Tennis Downs Grove City 5-0 to Open Season

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team opened its 2017-18 season with a 5-0 victory at Grove City College on Tuesday, September 5. The Tartans lineup consisted of six freshmen while the match was halted during singles play due to rain.
  • Fields Announced for 2018 ITA National Indoor Championships

    The fields for the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Men's and Women's National Team Indoor Championships were announced on Wednesday, July 19 and both Carnegie Mellon University teams will be participating once again. This year marks the 10th straight year the women’s team will compete for the indoor title while the men will be making their sixth appearance since 2010.
