  • Sidell, Ollis Add All-America Honor to Resume

    Carnegie Mellon University senior Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif. / Carlmont) and sophomore Courtney Ollis (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) were recently named All-America by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), joining teammates Vinaya Rao (Vernon Hills, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) and Melissa Strome (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) who earned the honor in the fall.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked ninth in the nation, defeated 22nd-ranked Kenyon College on Friday afternoon in the second round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship by a 5-1 score. The match was played on the Tartans' home court.
  • Four Tartans Selected to NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships

    Carnegie Mellon University will have four tennis players at the 2018 NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles Tennis Championships after senior Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif./Carlmont) and sophomore Courtney Ollis (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) have been selected from the women's team and juniors Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School) and Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona Del Mar) were selected on the men's side. The NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship will begin on May 24 at Claremont Mudd Scripps in Claremont, California.
  • No. 9 Women’s Tennis Selected to Host NCAA Opening Rounds

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team has been selected to compete for the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship and will have the honor of hosting the first, second, and third rounds of competition. The appearance in the postseason event will be the 13th in 14 years. The Tartans will host action on Thursday, May 10 through Saturday, May 12 with five teams traveling to Pittsburgh.

    The ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team ran into 10th-ranked University of Chicago in the semifinals of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Saturday, April 28 and fell 6-3 to the Maroons. The Tartans are now 18-4 for the season and will face 13th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis on Sunday in the third-place match.

    The ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team closed the regular season with an 8-1 win against John Carroll University on Sunday, April 22 at home. The Tartans are now 17-3 for the year while the Blue Streaks dropped to 12-6.

    The ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team defeated the 23rd ranked Kenyon College Ladies on Sunday, April 15 at The Club Sport and Life in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, after rain forced the match inside. The Tartans finished the match with a 7-2 victory and are now 16-3 for the year.

    The ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis team traveled to Westminster College on Thursday, April 12 for a mid-week match against the Titans. The Tartans defeated the host team, 9-0, for their third straight win and 15th of the season.

    The ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team won a battle on the road at 19th-ranked University of Mary Washington on Saturday, April 7 when the Tartans pulled out a 5-4 win. The victory puts the Tartans at 14-3 for the season.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 10th nationally, placed third at the 2018 ITA National Team Indoor Championship after defeating ninth-ranked University of Chicago, 5-0, Sunday morning. This year's championship was hosted by Sewanee in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The win moves the Tartans overall record to 10-2 while Chicago is now 9-2.

    The 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team ran into second-ranked Emory University in the championship semifinal of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship on Saturday afternoon in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Eagles were able to prevail, 6-3, moving the Tartans' record to 9-2 for the season.

    The 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis team opened play at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship with an 8-1 victory against 11th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis. The first-round win marks the eighth such victory in the tournament for the Tartans in ten appearances. This year's championship is being hosted by Sewanee with today's match played at The McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
  • Girard Wins 450th! #10 Tartans Top Two Division II Opponents Sunday

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 10th in Division III, hosted a pair of Division II schools on Sunday at The Club Sport and Life in Monroeville and improved its overall record to 8-1 with two wins. The Cardinal and Gray topped Indiana University of Pennsylvania 7-2 before knocking off Seton Hill University 9-0. The win over IUP marked Head Coach Andrew Girard’s 450th combined victory. He now has 451 for his career, 233 women and 218 men, all coming at Carnegie Mellon.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis team will enter the spring season ranked 10th in the nation and with a 4-0 record. This marks the fifth time in six years the Tartans are in the top 10 when the ITA announced its first rankings of the spring.

    The Carnegie Mellon Athletics Department has restructured its intercollegiate tennis program, which includes the promotion of Mike Belmonte to Head Men’s Tennis Coach. Andrew Girard will remain the Head Women’s Tennis Coach and will add responsibilities as Operations Manager for Intercollegiate Tennis.
