Women’s Tennis Ranked No. 12 in Nation, Second in Atlantic South Region

(SKILLMAN, N.J.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team will open the spring season ranked among the top teams nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) after earning the 12th spot in the season's first national poll. The Tartans are also ranked second in the Atlantic South Region.

Individually, the Tartans have three players ranked nationally with one other ranked regionally for their singles play. Junior Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif./Carlmont) received a national ranking of 28 while senior Nicholle Torres (Weston, Fla./Great Neck South) is 37th and sophomore Jamie Vizelman (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) is tied for 50th.

In the regional rankings, Sidell is eighth, Torres in 10th, Vizelman is 13th and sophomore Katie Lai (Hagatna, Guam/St. Andrew's Episcopal School) is 15th.

Sidell and Torres are also ranked regionally in doubles and hold the 10th spot.

Carnegie Mellon will open its spring season in February.
