  • Hochstedler Repeats as CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-American
    June 12, 2018
    Carnegie Mellon University senior swimmer Kim Hochstedler (Mishawaka, Ind. / Penn) earned the second CoSIDA Academic All-America honor of her career on Tuesday when the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the Google Cloud Academic All-America Women's At-Large Team. Hochstedler earned first-team honors this year after being a third-team selection as a junior.

    Carnegie Mellon University senior swimmer Kim Hochstedler (Mishawaka, Ind. / Penn) repeated as a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree days after learning of her selection for the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. The senior was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District team for her academic and athletic prowess throughout her career and received CoSIDA Academic All-America honors last year.

    Carnegie Mellon University senior swimmer Kim Hochstedler (Mishawaka, Ind. / Penn) was selected as one of the 29 women's winter sport recipients of the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for excelling academically and athletically while showing leadership and commitment to the community. Hochstedler is the 12th Tartan to receive the award since 2007.

Their results helped the team finish 15th, recording the best national finish in school history.

  • Divers Close Competition at Regionals; Bamforth Qualifies for Nationals

    Four Carnegie Mellon University divers competed at the 2018 NCAA Division III Region 4 Diving Championships at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, from Friday, March 2 to Saturday, March 3. Junior Gabe Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass. / CRLS) finished high enough to qualify for his third trip to the NCAA Championships later in March.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s swimming and diving team improved two places on the final day of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships to finish third with 1,213.5 points, three points ahead of the University of Chicago, while Emory University won the meet with 2,049 points.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team traveled across Forbes Avenue to the University of Pittsburgh for the Western Pennsylvania Invite on Saturday afternoon. The meet was in preparation for the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships to be held February 14-16 in Atlanta, Georgia.

    This spring the Carnegie Mellon University swimming and diving teams will be offering eight lesson dates for interested swimmers 3 years old and up. The lessons are taught by members of the swimming and diving teams. All ability levels are welcome to take lessons.

  • Chau Wins Backstroke at Home Tri Meet with Denison and Johns Hopkins

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s swimming and diving team hosted Denison University and Johns Hopkins University in a tri-meet on Saturday, January 20 for its first competition since returning from the winter training trip in Miami, Florida. The Tartans fell to Denison, 227-72, and to Johns Hopkins, 171-122, while Denison topped Johns Hopkins, 183-111.

  • Provisional Marks Complete Weekend for Tartan Women at Kenyon

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team completed competition at the Total Performance Invitational at Kenyon College against Division I Ohio State University and Davidson College, Division II Ashland University, and fellow Division III members Grove City College and Susquehanna University. The Tartans placed second with 1,593 points while Kenyon won the meet with 2,797 points.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s swimming and diving team continued competition at the Total Performance Invitational hosted by Kenyon College on Friday, December 1. Sophomore Mary Day (Warren, N.J./Mount Saint Mary Academy) set a school record in the 100-yard backstroke with six other times provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships.

  • Tartans Win Double-Dual Meet with Grove City and Washington and Lee

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s swimming and diving team hosted its third straight meet on Saturday, November 11 when Grove City College and Washington and Lee University visited Pittsburgh. The Tartans won the double-dual meet with scores of 190-71 against Washington and Lee and 215-46 against Grove City.
