  • Women's Swimming Honored for Academics by CSCAA

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team was honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) with a Team Scholar All-America award as seven individuals were also named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans.
  • Hochstedler Awarded Academic All-America Honors by CoSIDA

    Carnegie Mellon University junior women’s swimmer Kim Hochstedler (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as a 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-American on the Women’s At-Large Team. The team honors athletes from ten different sports with Hochstedler being one of 19 swimmers to earn the award. Her placement on the third team is the first of her career and first for a Tartan swimmer since 2013.

  • Hochstedler One of Four to Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Honors

    Four Carnegie Mellon University athletes were recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s At-Large Teams. Senior men’s golfer George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) earns the award for the third time while senior men’s tennis player Kenny Zheng (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central), senior women’s tennis player Nicholle Torres (Weston, Fla./Great Neck South) and junior women’s swimmer Kim Hochstedler (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) receive the honor for the first time.
  • Tartans Finish 23rd at NCAA Championships

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team finished 23rd at the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships which concluded Saturday, March 18. Three Tartans earned All-America awards during the four-day meet.

  • Nicklas-Morris Places Fifth in 400-yard IM at NCAA Championships

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team earned 14 more points at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday, March 16 when freshman Emma Nicklas-Morris (Winston-Salem, N.C./RJ Reynolds) swam in the finals of the 400-yard IM.

  • Four Women to Compete at NCAA Championships

    Four members of the Carnegie Mellon University women’s swimming and diving team will compete at the 2017 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The championships will be hosted by the City of Shenandoah and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) in Shenandoah, Texas, on March 15-18.
  • Kaku Earns Third Straight Trip to NCAA Championships

    For the third straight year, senior Machika Kaku (Irvine, Calif./University) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team earned her way to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with her finishes at the 2017 NCAA Region 4 Diving Championships, hosted by Ithaca College at the Ithaca Athletics & Event Center on Friday and Saturday, February 24-25.
  • Hochstedler Earns UAA and ECAC Weekly Awards

    Carnegie Mellon University junior Kim Hochstedler (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women’s Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday, February 21. Hochstedler’s awards are the first of her career and come after her performance at the Kenyon College Fast Chance Meet on Saturday, February 18.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s swimming and diving team finished competition at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on Saturday, February 11 at the University of Chicago. Two more school records were set as the Tartans surged forward on the last day to move into fourth place with Emory University winning the team title.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team traveled to Granville, Ohio to face Denison University on Saturday, January 21. The Tartans fell 174-115 and touched second in three events.
  • Three Receive ECAC Weekly Honor

    Three Carnegie Mellon University swimmers and divers received recognition from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as Corvias ECAC South Athletes of the Week on Tuesday, January 17. Senior Machika Kaku (Irvine, Calif./University) and freshman Emma Nicklas-Morris (Winston-Salem, N.C./RJ Reynolds) of the women’s team and sophomore Winston Chu (Warren, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) of the men’s team were honored for their respective performances at their home tri-meet with Westminster College and SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, January 14.
  • Tartans Top Westminster and SUNY Geneseo at Final Home Meet

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team returned from its annual training trip in Miami, Florida, to host Westminster College and SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, January 14. The Tartans won the meet in double-dual scoring by topping Westminster, 262-38, and Geneseo, 177-123.
  • Bamforth, Kaku Receive UAA Diver of the Week Awards

    Carnegie Mellon University sophomore diver Gabe Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass./CRLS) and senior diver Machika Kaku (Irvine, Calif./University) were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) as divers of the week following their respective record-breaking performances at the Total Performance Sports Camp Invitational hosted by Kenyon College on December 1 through December 3. The award is the third for Bamforth this year and second for Kaku.
