(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving relay continued its success at the 2014 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on the second day of competition, Thursday, March 20. The 400-yard medley relay finished 14th in 3:50.34 to earn Honorable Mention All-America, a day after the 200-yard medley relay finished 15th.
The relay team of sophomores Kira Singhaus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) and Felicia Wang (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley), with freshman Gillian Crews (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) and senior Soleil Phan (Irvine, Calif./Beckman) reached the finals by finishing 13th in the preliminaries with a school record time of 3:50.16. Wang had a split time of 1:04.50 in the breaststroke while Crews's split time in the butterfly was 55.8, both of which are better than school records for individual events.
Also competing for the day was Phan in the 400-yard IM and Crews in the 100-yard butterfly. Phan finished 19th overall in a time of 4:31.02 while Crews was 18th overall in 56.70.
Senior Megan Garvey (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) also dove in the water and finished 39th in the 100-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 57.83.
