  • Team and Five Individuals Honored by CSCAA with Academic Honor

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s swimming and diving team was honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for its academic success for the 2011-2012 school year. The 27 member team earned a 3.58 GPA for the spring semester and a 3.36 for the fall.
  • Stillo Named to Capital One Academic All-America First Team

    Carnegie Mellon University junior Breanna Stillo (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Women’s At-Large First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for the 2011-2012 season. CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition.
  • Q & A with Rising Senior Sarah Menio

    Rising senior Sarah Menio is a two sport athlete in women's swimming and diving and outdoor track and field and is a six-time letter winner for the Tartans. This past April, Menio placed fifth at the UAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a career-best distance of 34.02 meters in the discus. Menio is a chemistry major in the MS/ BS program with a minor in business administration. The MS/BS program allows her to graduate with both her masters and bachelors of chemistry in a little over four years. She is also a member of the Science and Humanities Scholars program which is an interdisciplinary program which allows students to explore majors in both H&SS and MCS.     Carnegie Mellon University junior Breanna Stillo (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell), a member of the women’s swimming and diving team, was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team. CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition with the official sponsor of Capital One.

    As part of the 25th anniversary celebration of the University Athletic Association (UAA), the Carnegie Mellon University Department of Athletics is honored to announce the school’s all-time UAA women's swimming and diving team.
  • Tartans Take Third Place at UAA Championships
    February 18, 2012
    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team finished third at the University Athletic Association Championships which ended Saturday night after three days of competition. The women tallied 1,125 points and were just behind University of Chicago with 1,288 points while Emory University won the meet with 2,112 points.
  • Stillo Sets School Record as UAA Champion in 100 Breaststroke

    Junior Breanna Stillo (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) led the Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team during the second day of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, winning the 100-yard breaststroke as the Tartans are currently in third place with one day left to compete. Stillo also broke the school record that was set earlier in the day by sophomore Tatiana Duchak (Centreville, Va./Mercersburg Academy).
  • 400-Yard Medley Relay Highlights Tartans at Day One of UAA Championships

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving competed at the first day of the University Athletic Association Championships Thursday, February 16. The championships are being held in Cleveland, Ohio hosted by Case Western Reserve University.
  • Tartans Go 3-1 at University of Pittsburgh

    On Saturday, February 4 the Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team traveled east to the University of Pittsburgh for a tune-up before the University Athletic Association Championships next week. The team defeated Clarion University, Grove City College and California University of PA while falling to Pittsburgh.
  • Q & A with Senior Hannah Gonzalez

    Hannah Gonzalez is from Bridgewater, N.J., and is a senior on the women's swimming and diving team and competes in the butterfly events and individual medley events. Two years ago, she helped set a new school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay at the University Athletic Association championships. Gonzalez is also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council. Below are a few questions asked of Hannah about her time at Carnegie Mellon.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team hosted Denison University in its last home meet of the year on Saturday, January 28. The Tartans fell by an overall score of 164-120.
  • Tartans Begin Second Semester with Double-Dual Win

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team started second semester with a double-dual win at Westminster College on Saturday, January 21. The Tartans defeated both Westminster and SUNY Geneseo.
  • Stillo Sets School Record at Kenyon's Top Performance Meet

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming team traveled to Gambier, Ohio, for the Top Performance Meet hosted by Kenyon College from Thursday, December 1 through Saturday, December 3. The team finished sixth overall behind University of Pennsylvania, Kenyon, Bowling Green State University, Davidson College and Grove City College.
  • DeFazio Places First on 3-Meter Board

    Senior diver Olivia DeFazio (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) won one event and placed second in another during the Carnegie Mellon University Diving Quad on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19. Other competing teams were Allegheny College, Univesity of Rochester and Washington & Jefferson College.
  • Tartan Women Race to Three Victories in Quad Meet

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s swimming team defeated three opponents at the Carnegie Mellon University Quad Meet on Saturday in Pittsburgh. The Tartans defeated Washington & Lee University 163-94, the University of Rochester 149-108, and completed the sweep with a 168-84 victory over Allegheny College.
  • Tartans Fall to Wolverines in Swimming and Diving Action

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team traveled to Grove City College for a dual meet with the Wolverines on Saturday, November 12. The Tartans fell in the meet 162-136 and now have a season dual-meet record of 3-2.
  • Hour of Power for Cancer Research

    As the Carnegie Mellon University men’s and women’s swimming and diving squads prepare for their third meet of the season on Saturday, November 12, they took time out Tuesday to help fight cancer. For the fourth consecutive year, the team participated in the Ted Mullin: Hour of Power.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team opened its home season against Division II Clarion University on Saturday, November 5. Clarion won the meet 182-116.
  • Tartans Sweep UAA Opponents at Rochester

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team opened the season at University of Rochester with a double dual meet against the host Yellowjackets, Case Western Reserve University and New York University. The Tartans swept the three University Athletic Association opponents tallying over 200 points against each.
  • Molly Evans ’11 Recognized as NCAA Woman of the Year Finalist
    October 19, 2011
    Former Carnegie Mellon swimming standout Molly Evans was one of 30 women honored on Sunday, October 16 at the NCAA Woman of the Year Dinner. Evans, who graduated in May with a 4.0 GPA in biology, was one of 10 women from Division III to receive the prestigious recognition. She is the first Carnegie Mellon student-athlete to be honored as a finalist.
  • Kinney Hires Tom Nawrot as Assistant Swimming and Diving Coach

    Carnegie Mellon University’s swimming and diving head coach Matt Kinney hired Tom Nawrot as his full-time assistant coach to start the 2011-12 season. Nawrot is a 2009 graduate of The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), where he also served as an assistant coach for the past two seasons.
