(LEXINGTON, Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed at the opening round of the Generals Invitational hosted by Washington & Lee University Sunday, October 7 and set a school record after carding a team score of 300. The 36-hole, two day event is being played on the par 72 Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Virginia, and the Tartans lead the field of 13 teams following the first 18 holes of play. NYU sits two strokes back with a 302.
Freshman Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) led the Cardinal and Gray Sunday afternoon with a one-over par 73 tying her season-best round.
Senior Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) and junior Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) both turned in career-best rounds. Jordan carded a two-over par 74 while Lui shot a 75. Sophomore Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) ended play with a 78 on Sunday and freshman Grace Chen (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis) fired an 86.
Play continues Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. with the second round from the Lexington Country Club.
