Women’s Golf Continues Play in Second Day of Jekyll Island Collegiate

(JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf continued playing in the second day of the 2017 Jekyll Island Collegiate Saturday, March 18.  The Tartans fired a team score of 322 and currently are tied with ninth-ranked Methodist University for seventh after 36-holes of play with a two-round total of 641. The three-day event is being played on the par-72, 5,801-yard Indian Mounds Golf Club on Jekyll Island and the field is comprised of 23 Division III teams including 10 ranked in the top 25 nationally.
    
Junior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) led the Tartans on Saturday with a five-over par 77 and through two rounds has a 158 (81-77). Freshman Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) is the top Tartan after 36 holes with a 154 (76-78) and is tied for fifth-place individually in a field of 120 golfers.

Sophomore Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) finished Saturday with a 36-hole total of 161 (78-83) while freshman Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) has a 168 after carding back-to-back rounds of 84. Junior Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) shot a 93 on Saturday and has a 191 for the tournament.

Three individuals for Carnegie Mellon continued play Saturday on the par-72 Oleander Course. Junior Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill.) has a two-round score of 160 (79-81), freshman Sanchi Gupta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) has carded a 182 (92-90) and junior Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) has a 199 (100-99).

The final round of the event will be held Sunday, March 19 with the first group teeing off at 8:00 a.m.
