  • Filiere and Weslock Earn Women’s Basketball All-UAA Recognition

    Two Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball players were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches this week when the Association announced the 2018-19 All-UAA Women’s Basketball Team. Junior Makayla Filiere (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) and freshman Leah Weslock (Howell, Mich./Howell) were both named honorable mention following their performances throughout the year for the 12-13 Tartans.
  • Pereira Ties School Record with Seven Three-pointers in Loss at Case Western Reserve

    Junior Laurel Pereira (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) tied the school record for made three-pointers in a game with seven, but her long range game couldn’t match that of the Case Western Reserve University women’s basketball team and the Carnegie Mellon University Tartans fell 69-52 in the final game of the season. The score dropped the Tartans to 12-13 for the year and 3-11 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Spartans moved to 15-10 and 7-7.
  • Filiere Repeats on CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

    Carnegie Mellon University junior Makayla Filiere (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) has been named to the CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for the second time. As a sophomore last season, Filiere was the only second-year athlete honored out of six players on the District 4 team and one of six sophomores to be honored in Division III. This year, Filiere is one of five on the District 4 team and the only University Athletic Association (UAA) player across all districts to receive the award. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better.
  • Tartans Close Home Season with Loss to Emory

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team hosted Emory University in the home season finale on Sunday, February 17, falling to the Eagles, 57-46. The Tartans are now 12-12 for the year and 3-10 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Eagles sit at 18-6 and 9-4.
  • Clendenin's Double-Double Leads Tartans to Double-Digit Home Win

    Four players scored in double figures and freshman Caitlyn Clendenin (Bethesda, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase) recorded a double-double to lead the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team to a 68-54 home win against the University of Rochester on Friday, February 15. The Tartans advance to 12-11 for the season and 3-9 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Yellowjackets drop to 9-14 and 3-9.
  • Weslock Records Second Career Double-Double as Tartans are Topped by NYU

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team played the Violets of New York University on Sunday afternoon in a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest and dropped a 61-52 contest in the Big Apple. The Tartans move to 11-11 and 2-9 in UAA play while the Violets are now 13-8, 5-6.
  • Strong Fourth Quarter Lifts Tartans Past Judges

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team traveled to Brandeis University on Friday night and came away with a 67-58 University Athletic Association (UAA) victory after outscoring the Judges 23-9 in the fourth quarter. The Tartans are now 11-10 overall and 2-8 in UAA play while the Judges move to 7-13, 3-7.
  • Tartans Falter at Home to #19 Chicago
    February 03, 2019
    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team hosted 19th-ranked University of Chicago on Sunday afternoon in Skibo Gymnasium for their ninth game in University Athletic Association (UAA) play. The Tartans stayed close early but were unable to keep up with the Maroons who closed out a double-digit game at 66-54. The Tartans are now 10-10 overall and 1-8 in league play while the Maroons move to 16-4 and 7-2.
  • Lead for Tartans Doesn't Hold vs WashU at Home

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team played shot-to-shot with the top team in the University Athletic Association (UAA) Friday night before Washington University in St. Louis was able to finish off a late lead for a 61-58 win. The Tartans are now 10-9 overall and 1-7 in the UAA, while the Bears move to 14-5 and 8-0.
  • Tartans Drop UAA Contest at #19 Chicago

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team continued University Athletic Association (UAA) play at 19th-ranked University of Chicago on Sunday and fell by the score of 57-45. The Tartans are now 10-8 and 1-6 in UAA play, as the Maroons move to 14-4 and 5-2.
  • Weslock and Archer Score Career Highs in Tartans Loss at Washington U.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team traveled west for a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest at Washington University in St. Louis on Friday and dropped an 87-64 contest. Carnegie Mellon is now 10-7 and 1-5 in UAA play while the Bears move to 12-5 and remain unbeaten in UAA play with a mark of 6-0.
  • Tartans Comeback Falls Short at Emory

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team nearly pulled off another road win in the University Athletic Association (UAA) but a third-quarter burst by Emory University created enough of a gap the Tartans could only come to within three at the end before falling 56-51. The Tartans are now 10-6 overall and 1-4 in the UAA while the Eagles improve to 11-5 and 2-3.
  • Big Fourth Quarter Propels Tartans to 66-59 Road Victory versus Rochester

    A big fourth quarter drove the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team to a 66-59 road win against the University of Rochester on Friday, January 18. The Tartans pick up their first University Athletic Association (UAA) win and are now 10-5 for the season. The Yellowjackets drop to 6-9 and 0-4.
  • Filiere Scores 19 in Home Setback to Violets
    January 13, 2019
    Junior Makayla Filiere (Chandler, Ariz. / Hamilton) recorded a season-high 19 points against New York University on Sunday afternoon but the Tartans fell to the Violets, 72-64, at home. The Tartans are now 9-5 overall and 0-3 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Violets won their first UAA contest of the year and are 8-4 overall.
  • Tartans Tripped at Home by Judges

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team fell at home to Brandeis University, 78-61, on Friday, January 11. The Tartans are now 9-4 for the year and 0-2 in the University Athletic Association (UAA), while the Judges move to 6-6 and 2-0.
  • Tartans Topped at Home by Case Western Reserve, 74-63

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team hosted Case Western Reserve University in the University Athletic Association (UAA) opener for both teams on Saturday, January 5. The Spartans used runs in each quarter to thwart off the Tartans, as the home squad fell 74-63 to move to 9-3 overall and 0-1 in the UAA. The Spartans are now 8-3 and 1-0.
  • Weslock Scores 17 as Tartans Fall in Championship Game of the Marriott Columbus Airport Holiday Tournament

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team played in the championship game of the 2018 Marriott Columbus Airport Holiday Tournament hosted by Capital University on Saturday afternoon and dropped a 71-42 contest to the host Crusaders. The Tartans end their non-conference slate with a 9-2 record while Capital moves to 8-4 overall.
  • Tartans Advance to Championship Game of Capital /Marriott Columbus Airport Holiday Tournament With 79-63 Win Over Wooster

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team played The College of Wooster in the opening round of the 2018 Marriott Columbus Airport Holiday Tournament hosted by Capital University on Friday evening and advanced to the championship game on Saturday with a 79-63 win over the Fighting Scots. The Tartans move to 9-1 while the Fighting Scots are now 4-7.
  • Tartans Move to 8-1 after 76-64 Home Win
    December 18, 2018
    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team returned to action after a 10-day break following final exams to take on the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg at home Tuesday. A six-point halftime lead led to a 76-64 victory and now an 8-1 record.

    The Carnegie Mellon Univesity women's basketball team rebounded from an off shooting performance 10 days ago to pull away early from Allegheny College in a 93-56 victory at home on Saturday, December 8. The Tartans move to 7-1 for the season while the Gators drop to 4-5.
  • Tartans Drop First Game of Season at Mount Union
    November 28, 2018
    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team traveled to the University of Mount Union for a weeknight contest, falling 57-32, to the now 5-0 Purple Raiders. The Tartans fall for the first time this season and are now 6-1.
  • Tartans Push Win Streak to Six with Road Victory

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team is now 6-0 after a 75-44 victory at Franciscan University on Sunday, November 25. Four players scored in double figures while two picked up double-doubles in the win.
  • Pitts' Career Evening Leads Tartans to 76-51 Win Against Bethany

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team hosted Bethany College for its first home game of the season on Tuesday, November 20, winning 76-51 over the Bison. The Tartans are now 5-0 for the season and hand Bethany its second loss at 3-2.
  • Tartans Close Road Trip with 54-43 Win Against Finlandia

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team finished a four-game road stand with a 54-43 victory against Finlandia University at the Wooster College Classic on Sunday, November 18. The Tartans are now 4-0 for the year and have won each game by double-digits.
  • Tartans Move to 3-0 with Third Double-Digit Win

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team improved to 3-0 with its third double-digit victory of the season when the Tartans defeated Franklin College at the Wooster College Classic, 74-60. Three players scored in double figures, as the team shot 49.2% from the floor for the second straight game.
  • Strong Start Leads to 77-57 Road Victory for Tartans

    A strong first quarter by the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team created a 17-point advantage that Washington & Jefferson College couldn't recover from, as the Tartans went on to a 77-57 victory on the road against the Presidents on Tuesday, November 13. The win marks eighth-year head coach Jacquie Hullah's 100th at Carnegie Mellon, as the Tartans improve to 2-0.
  • Tartans Force OT, Run Away with Victory in Season Opener

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team got off to a slow start at Waynesburg University on Friday, November 9 in the season opener for both teams, but rallied to force overtime and proceeded to run away with the victory, topping the Yellow Jackets, 67-54, after extra time.
