  • Tartans End Year with 71-55 Victory Against Case Western Reserve

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team closed the season with a 71-55 victory against Case Western Reserve University Saturday, February 23 at home to finish the year at 10-15. The University Athletic Association (UAA) win was the second of the season for the Tartans who return all 12 players next season.
  • Filiere Honored on CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

    Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Makayla Filiere (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in her first year of eligibility. Filiere is the only sophomore honored out of six players on the District 4 team and one of six sophomores to be honored in Division III. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team hosted 20th-ranked University of Rochester on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Yellowjackets, 70-53, in University Athletic Association (UAA) action. The Tartans are now 9-13 for the year and 1-10 in the UAA with the Yellowjackets sitting at 18-4 and 8-3.

    Junior guard Jenn Mayberger (Chesterfield, Mo. / Cor Jesu Academy) set the career assists record Friday night when the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team hosted Emory University in University Athletic Association (UAA) action. The Tartans dropped the contest, 66-64, to the Eagles and are now 9-12 overall and 1-9 in the UAA. The Eagles moved to 11-10 and 5-5 with the two-point victory.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team led the Brandeis University Judges at the half but was unable to keep the lead in a 60-52 defeat on Sunday afternoon. The Tartans are now 9-11 and 1-8 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Judges move to 12-7 and 4-5 in the UAA.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball game against New York University on Friday night went down to the wire with NYU prevailing, 68-63, after a pair of closing free throws with two tenths of a second remaining in the game. The Tartans are now 9-10 and 1-7 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Violets move to 11-8 and 4-4.

The Tartans are now 9-8 and 1-5 in the UAA, while the Violets improve to 9-8 and 2-4.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team hosted Washington University in St. Louis on Sunday, January 21 in a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest, falling to the Bears, 83-69. Sophomore Laurel Pereira (Naperville, Ill. / Naperville North) led the Tartans, now 9-7 overall and 1-4 in UAA play, with 16 points.
  • Fourth Quarter Run by #22 Chicago Upends Tartans at Home

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team hosted No. 22 University of Chicago on Friday evening for a University Athletic Association (UAA) matchup. The Tartans climbed back from a 19-point deficit to tie the game in the fourth quarter but an end-of-game run by the Maroons spoiled the comeback and the Tartans fell, 82-62. The Tartans are now 9-6 and 1-3 in the UAA while the Maroons move to 13-2 and 4-0.
  • Women’s Basketball Tripped Up at #7 Rochester

    The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team played the seventh-ranked University of Rochester Yellowjackets on Sunday afternoon and fell 77-45 in Rochester, New York. The University Athletic Association (UAA) setback puts Carnegie Mellon’s overall record at 9-5 and 1-2 in UAA play while Rochester improves to 13-1, 3-0.

The Tartans improve to 8-3 on the season while the Battling Bishops drop to 1-10.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team faced Albion College in the Ohio Wesleyan University Hoops for Hope tournament on Friday, December 29 in its first game following a 10-day holiday break. Albion, now 8-3 on the year, topped the Tartans (7-3), 53-38.

The Tartans improve to 7-2 for the season while the Yellow Jackets drop to 5-4.

Filiere's career-high 30 points helped move the Tartans to 6-2 on the year while the Bearcats fell to 4-4.
  • Tartans Strong Fourth Quarter Not Enough in 51-48 Setback to W&J

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team held Washington and Jefferson College to two points in the fourth quarter but its double-digit comeback fell short. The Presidents moved to 7-0 on the year with a 51-48 victory in Skibo Gymnasium. The Tartans are now 5-2 for the season.
