(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University freshman Scotty McGee (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach) earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Softball Pitcher of the Week for her debut action on Sunday, March 10 for the Tartans softball team. The award marks the first in program history for the first year program.
In her first collegiate games, McGee struck out 10 batters in 6.2 innings of relief work while surrendering zero hits and zero runs. McGee also turned a double play off a pop up bunt. The freshman struck out her first two batters faced when she entered the game down 6-0 with runners on second and third with one out. She finished with nine strikeouts in her first appearance. In game two, McGee got the Tartans out of the sixth inning when she entered trailing 5-4 with a runner on third and no outs.
