  • Newby Named Academic All-District for Second Straight Year

    For the second straight season, Carnegie Mellon University senior Josh Newby (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto), a member of the men’s cross country and track and field teams, has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for men's cross country and track and field.

    Alumnus Ethan Coffey, who was a member of the Carnegie Mellon University cross country and track and field teams from 2001 to 2005 and studied mechanical engineering, has graduated on to a career as a research engineer along with winning races on big stages.

Newby's individual qualification to the championships marks his second appearance on the national stage after competing with the team in 2012.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s cross country team raced to a fourth-place finish at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on its home course in Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Saturday, November 2. Washington University won the meet for the fourth straight year.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team competed at the Greater Louisville Classic Saturday, October 5. The race had a field of 269 runners from Division I, II and III with more than half from Division I institutions.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s cross country team, ranked 14th nationally in Division III, tied for a second-place team finish at the Lock Haven University Invitational on Saturday, September 21. Winning the race was the host Lock Haven while fellow Division II institution Slippery Rock University tied with the Tartans.
  • Tartans Win Mack Cooper Invitational

    For the second straight season, senior Josh Newby (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) was the top Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country performer at the Mack Cooper Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University at Cooper's Lake Campground. Newby's second-place individual showing led the Tartans to a first-place team finish.
  • Tartans Run in Schenley Park at Duquesne Duals

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team opened its 2013 season at the Duquesne Duals at Schenley Park Saturday morning. The race was the season opener for the Tartans who competed against Division I schools Duquesne, Pittsburgh, Robert Morris and Youngstown State while St. Vincent joined Carnegie Mellon as the two lone Division III schools.
