  • Men’s Track Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards
    July 31, 2017
    The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2017 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on each list for the 11th consecutive year. A total of 111 men’s teams and 183 women’s teams earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better.
  • Schofel, Norley Finish Season at NCAA Championships

    Junior Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) and senior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) closed the season for the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, May 27. The meet was held at SPIRE Institute.
  • Norley Advances to 1,500-Meter Final at NCAA Championships

    Senior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team advanced to the final of the 1,500-meter run at the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The championships are being hosted in Geneva, Ohio, at SPIRE Institute.
  • Three Track & Field Athletes Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

    Carnegie Mellon University had three track and field athletes named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for men's and women’s cross country and track and field on Thursday, May 25. On the women’s side, senior Grace Yee (San Francisco, Calif./Lick-Wilmerding) and junior Sarah Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) were honored, along with senior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) garnering accolades on the men’s side. Yee and Cook receive the award for the first time while this marks Norley’s second honor after receiving it following his junior season.
  • Outdoor Track and Field Garners 15 USTFCCCA All-Region Honors

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s and women’s track and field teams had 15 athletes honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with All-Region accolades for the 2017 outdoor track and field season. Ten represent the men while five represent the women with three receiving multiple honors.
  • Norley and Schofel Earn Placement to Compete at NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

    Carnegie Mellon University men’s track and field athletes Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) and Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) earned entrance to compete at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This year’s meet will be hosted in Geneva, Ohio, at SPIRE Institute from Thursday, May 25 through Saturday, May 27.
  • Norley Sets School Record at Allegheny Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team took 12 athletes to the Allegheny College 12th Annual Gator Invitational on Friday, May 12. Senior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) recorded a career-best time, set a stadium record and put his name in the Carnegie Mellon records book once again.
  • Aldrich Named to the USA Coaching Staff for 2017 IAAF World Outdoor Championships

    Gary Aldrich, head coach of the Carnegie Mellon University track and field teams, has been named to the U.S.A. coaching staff as the Assistant Throws Coach for the 2017 IAAF World Outdoor Championships this summer. The event will take place in London, England, from August 3-14. This marks Aldrich's fifth coaching stint on the international stage.
  • Schofel Named UAA Most Outstanding Outdoor Performer, Coaching Staff Honored

    Carnegie Mellon University junior Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Most Outstanding Performer in Field Events while the coaching staff was honored as the Men's Coaching Staff of the Year. These awards come after the team won its fourth UAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday, April 23.
  • Tartans Earn Team Title at UAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s track and field team won the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championship behind three first-place finishes and a lot of depth. It marked the fourth outdoor championship for the Tartans and the first time in school history the Tartans won both the indoor and outdoor championship in the same year. The meet was hosted by the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois.

  • Men’s Track & Field Wins Westminster Invitational, Record Seven Top Finishes

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Westminster Invitational on Saturday, April 8 and won the 15-team event scoring 232.5 points. The Tartans turned in seven first-place showings throughout the meet on their way to winning the third straight meet of the spring.
  • Moore Sets School Record as Men's Track and Field Wins Home Quad Meet

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team hosted its annual CMU Quad Meet on Saturday, April 1 and won with 227.5 points. Penn State Behrend placed second with 186 points. Sophomore Jared Moore (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) highlighted the day, as he recorded a school record time of 8:41.63 to win the 3,000-meter run.
  • Schofel Named ECAC Corvias South Field Athlete of the Week

    Junior Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J.) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s outdoor track and field team the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Corvias South Field Athlete of the Week. The honor comes following his performance at the Carnegie Mellon Mini Invitational on Friday and Saturday, March 24-25.
  • Men’s Track & Field Sweeps Three Events at Home Mini Invite

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team hosted its annual Mini Invitational on Saturday, March 25. The Tartans won the event after scoring 283 points with Allegheny College taking second with 90 points. The Tartans swept three top three spots in three events throughout the met.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s outdoor track and field team had three athletes receive weekly awards for their performances at the Washington and Lee UniversityTrack & Field Carnival on Friday and Saturday, March 17-18. The event was held at Foster Stadium in Lexington, Virginia.
  • Men’s Track & Field Turns in Five Top Finishes at W&L Carnival

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Washington and Lee Track and Field Carnival in Lexington, Virginia at Foster Stadium on Friday and Saturday, March 17-18. The Tartans turned in five first-place showings in the first meet of the spring including a sweep of the top five spots in the 800-meter race.
  • Norley Breaks School Record at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, Repeats as All-American

    Senior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed in the finals of the mile run at the 2017 NCAA Indoor Division III Track and Field Championships on Saturday, March 11. For the second straight season, the senior garnered All-America honors after placing fifth with a school record time.

  • Norley and DMR to Compete at NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s indoor track and field team has received an invite for senior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) and the distance medley relay (DMR) team to compete at the NCAA Men’s Track and Field Championships. The championships will be held March 10-11 at the Res Rec Center in Naperville, Illinois, with North Central College serving as the official host.
  • Relay Team Sets School Record in Win at ECAC Championships

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team had its distance medley relay team compete at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y. on Friday, March 3. The team made the trip to compete for a qualifying spot at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

    Carnegie Mellon University senior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Most Outstanding Performer in Running Events and the coaching staff was honored as the Men's Coaching Staff of the Year. These awards come after the team won its second-ever UAA Indoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday, February 26.
  • Tartans Win UAA Indoor Championship; Mansfield Sets School Record

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team claimed its second-ever University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Team Championship on Sunday, February 26. The Tartans scored 116.33 points with Emory University the closest to the Cardinal and Gray with 80 points. The 2017 championships were held on the campus of Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
  • Tartans Lead UAA Indoor Championships After Day 1

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team currently leads the field following the first day of competition at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 25. The Tartans have 39.33 points, as the 2017 championships are being held on the campus of Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
  • Six Career Marks Lead Tartans at Ohio State Tune-Up

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s track and field team competed at the Ohio State University Tune-Up on Friday, February 17 against schools from Division I, II and III. Six different career-best marks were set during the meet.
  • Tartans Sweep 3,000-Meter Run at Dragon Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Tiffin University Dragon Invitational on Saturday, February 11. The Tartans swept the top four spots in the 3,000-meter run while also claiming the top spot in the mile run.
  • Tartans Record Eight Top Finishes in Win at Bob Shannon Invitational at Denison

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Denison University Bob Shannon Invitational on Saturday, February 4, winning the scored event for the second straight year after tabbing 217 points. Ohio Wesleyan University was second with 103 points. The Tartans won eight events Saturday including a sweep in the mile run.
  • Tartans Win the Ninth Annual Battle of the Obelisk
    January 28, 2017
    The Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field team traveled to Cleveland Ohio on Saturday to compete against Case Western Reserve in the ninth annual Battle of the Obelisk. The men swept three events, two in the field and one on the track, to beat the Spartans 77-59. The women also were victorious winning 70-66 to give Carnegie Mellon the 2017 title of the Obelisk Trophy by a combined score of 147-125.
