  • Men’s and Women’s Track Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Awards
    July 28, 2016
    The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2016 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the lists for the 10th consecutive year. A total of 112 men’s teams and 175 women’s teams earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.1 or better.

  • Norley Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

    Carnegie Mellon University junior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for men's cross country and track and field for the 2015-16 season. CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition.
  • Tartans Compete at 11th Annual Gator Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the 11th Annual Gator Invitational host by Allegheny College on Friday, May 13. The Tartans turned in two top finishes with wins in the 800-meter run and 1,500-meter run.
  • Walters Named UAA Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year

    Freshman Rai Walters (Westlake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Rookie of the Year when the league office announced its postseason accolades Thursday, April 28.

    Eight Carnegie Mellon University student-athletes will be inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society during commencement on May 15.
  • Men’s Track and Field Places Second at UAA Championships

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team finished second scoring 137 points during the two-day University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships meet. The host, Washington University of St. Louis, won the meet scoring 161.5 points. This marked the fourth time the Tartans have finished second in the past five championships.
  • Men’s Track and Field Place Third at Westminster Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team placed third at the Westminster College Invitational on Saturday, April 16. The Tartans won two events to go with six other finishes in the top four for the meet.
  • Tartan Men’s Track and Field Earns Win at CMU Quad Meet

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s track and field team won the CMU Quad Meet on Saturday, April 2 with 205 points, just topping Penn State Behrend who finished with 198 points. Westminster College placed third with 164 points while Saint Vincent College was fourth with 64 points.
  • Schofel Named UAA Field Athlete of the Week

    Sophomore Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for field events following his performance at the Carnegie Mellon University Mini Invitational on Friday and Saturday, March 25-26. Schofel won the hammer throw and placed fourth in the shot put and javelin as he helped the Tartans win the invitational.
  • Men’s Track and Field Place First at Home Mini Invitational

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team hosted its Mini Invitational on Friday and Saturday, March 25-26 at Gesling Stadium. The Tartans placed first with 311 points after winning 11 events against Waynesburg University, Denison University, Allegheny College and Franciscan University.
  • Men’s Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at W&L Carnival

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team traveled south to Lexington, Virginia for the Washington and Lee Track and Field Carnival hosted by Washington and Lee University at Foster Stadium on Friday and Saturday, March 18-19. The Tartans turned in three first-place showings in the first meet of the spring.

    Junior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed in the finals of the mile run at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Division III Track and Field Championships on Saturday, March 12. The junior garnered All-America honors after placing sixth.

    Junior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Division III Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon at the Charles Benson Bear '39 Recreation and Athletic Center in Grinnell, Iowa, with Grinnell College serving as the official host. The junior advanced to the finals of the mile run after posting a personal-best time in the preliminaries.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team finished fifth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday, February 28. The two-day championships were hosted by NYU at the Armory in New York City. The Tartans won four events during the meet while freshman Rai Walters (Westlake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) broke his own school record in the long jump.

The Tune-Up was hosted by Ohio State University with the field comprised of Division I, II and III athletes.

  • Aldrich Selected as U.S.A. Men’s Throws Coach for 2016 World Indoor Championships

    Head coach Gary Aldrich of the Carnegie Mellon University track and field teams has been selected as the U.S.A. Men’s Throws Coach for the 2016 World Indoor Championships. The event will take place in Portland, Oregon, from March 17-20. This marks Aldrich's fourth coaching stint on the international stage.

    When junior Matthew Sheh enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University, video game development was an idea out of reach for the business major who tried to learn how to code video games from the internet one time in middle school. That was, until he met his roommate of three years, Kyle Weaver, whose classroom interests lie in mathematics and computer science.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Denison University Bob Shannon Invitational on Saturday, February 6, winning the scored event with 139 points. Baldwin Wallace University was second with 124 points. The Tartans won five events while placing second in two.

  • Ten Victories Pace Tartans at Case Western Reserve

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team traveled to University Athletic Association competitor Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) for the 9th Annual Battle for the Obelisk on Saturday, January 30. CWRU retained the obelisk winning by a combined score of 146-126, with the Tartan men winning the gender battle, 78-58.
  • Men’s Track & Field Compete at SPIRE North Coast Indoor Open and Win Denison Lid Lifter
    January 23, 2016
    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s track and field team competed at the SPIRE North Coast Indoor Track & Field Open at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, while half the team also competed at the Denison Lid Lifter in Granville, Ohio on Saturday, January 23. The North Coast Open was unscored, as the Tartans won the Lid Lifter with 191 points.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s track and field team swept the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South weekly awards when sophomore Evan Larrick (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North) was named Athlete of the Week and freshman Rai Walters (Westlake,Ohio/St. Ignatius) claimed Rookie of the Week.
  • Four First-Place Finishes Lead Tartans At Al Hall Freedom Games

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team began the indoor season at the Al Hall Freedom Games hosted by Edinboro University on Saturday, January 16. Four first-place finishes led the Tartans on the day.
