  • Men's Track Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award
    July 17, 2015
    The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the men's 2015 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list. A total of 99 institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.1 or better.
  • Aldrich Set to Lead USA Throwers at 2015 Pan Am Games

    The 2015 Pan American Games started July 10 and ten days later it’s time for the track and field participants and coaches to depart for Toronto to prepare for their events which begin July 20. Carnegie Mellon University Head Track and Field Coach Gary Aldrich will represent the United States Track and Field team as the assistant throws coach at the games.
  • Carnegie Mellon Lands Three Cross Country and Track & Field Athletes on Capital One Academic All-America Squad

    After finding a spot on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for men's and women’s cross country and track and field less than a month ago, three Carnegie Mellon University senior athletes were selected to the Capital One Academic All-America Third Team for the 2014-15 season; George Degen (Madison, Wis./West) and Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) on the men’s side are joined by Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) on the women’s team.
  • Three Cross Country and Track & Field Athletes Named Capital One Academic All-District

    Carnegie Mellon University had three senior athletes named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for men's and women’s cross country and track and field for the 2014-15 season; George Degen (Madison, Wis./West) and Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) on the men’s side are joined by Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) on the women’s team. CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition with the official sponsor of Capital One.
  • Vandenberg Earns All-America Honors at NCAA Championships

    Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field senior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) finished in eighth place in the finals of the 800-meter run at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Division III Track and Field Championships on Saturday afternoon. The championships were held at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.
  • Vandenberg Advances to 800m Final

    Senior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team advanced to the final of the 800-meter run at the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Championships is being held at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.
  • Degen Places 14th in 10K at NCAA Outdoor Championships

    Senior George Degen (Madison, Wis./West) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday, May 21. Degen competed in the 10,000-meter run after qualifying for the event in early April at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic.
  • Three to Represent Carnegie Mellon at NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

    Carnegie Mellon University will once again be represented on the national stage as three track and field athletes have earned the right to compete at the 2015 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This year’s championships will be May 21-23 at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.
  • Aldrich Named to the USA Coaching Staff for Pan American Games

    Head Coach Gary Aldrich of the Carnegie Mellon University track and field teams has been named Assistant Throws Coach for the 2015 Pan American Games this summer. The track and field portion of the Pan American Games takes place July 20-26, in Toronto, Canada, at CIBC Pan/Parapan Am Athletics Stadium at York University.

    Seniors Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) and George Degen (Madison, Wis./West) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed on Monday, May 11 at Swarthmore College's Final Qualifier. Both Vandenberg and Degen set personal bests in their respective event.

    Carnegie Mellon University senior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Most Outstanding Performer in the running events, as announced Thursday, April 30. Vandenberg won two UAA titles at the UAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend in Atlanta, Georgia on the campus of Emory University.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team finished sixth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Track and Field Championships which concluded Sunday, April 26 after two days of action at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Senior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) was the Tartans lone individual champion on Sunday winning the 800-meter race for the third consecutive year.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team began action at the 2015 University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, April 25 at Emory University. After seven scored events, the Tartans are sixth with 25 points.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University on Saturday, April 18. Fourteen teams from all three divisions competed at the meet.

  • Men’s Track and Field Places Second at Annual Quad Meet

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team hosted its annual Carnegie Mellon Quad on Saturday, April 4. The Tartans turned in eight first-place finishes as the team placed second with 200 points. Penn State Behrend won the quad with 212 points.
  • Track and Field Mini-Invite Cancelled

    The Carnegie Mellon University Outdoor Track and Field meet scheduled for Saturday, March 28 with Allegheny, Denison, Fredonia State and Waynesburg along with partial teams from Duquesne, Pitt and Saint Vincent has been cancelled due to inclement temperatures forecasted for the Pittsburgh area. The Tartans will next compete at the Carnegie Mellon Quad, Saturday, April 4 with field events beginning at 10:00 a.m.
  • Tartans Compete at W&L Carnival; Degen Sets Meet Record

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team traveled south to Lexington, Virginia for the Washington and Lee Track and Field Carnival hosted by Washington and Lee University at Foster Stadium on Friday and Saturday, March 20-21. The Tartans turned in two first-place showings while recording numerous personal bests.

  • Aldrich Receives Mideast Regional Award

    Newly appointed head men’s and women’s track and field coach Gary Aldrich of Carnegie Mellon University was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with outstanding regional recognition. Aldrich, who was named the acting head coach in November following the retirement of Dario Donatelli and then named head coach a month ago, was named Men’s Mideast Head Coach of the Year.
