  • Men's Track Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award

    The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the men's 2014 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list. A total of 93 institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.1 or better.

    For the second straight season, Carnegie Mellon University senior Josh Newby (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto), a member of the men’s cross country and track and field teams, has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for men's cross country and track and field.

This year's championships are being hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.

    Freshman Mark Smith (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hinsdale Central), junior Christian Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass./Westwood) and senior Zachary Erra-Hernandez (Las Cruces, N.M./Onate) were each named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week in their respective sports for their performance during the last week. Smith earned the award for men’s swimming, Heaney-Secord for men’s tennis and Erra-Hernandez for men’s track and field.
